It's not just bars. I was spending time with a guy I knew for awhile and it was like a movie meetup and gaming marathon night but it was supposed to be a group of us, and the people never showed which already had me uneasy. He tried to hand me a pre-made chilled drink he took from their freezer. I wasnt really a drinker & hate the taste of alcohol, be he kept trying to get me to try this one drink and knew "I would like it because its fruity." That made me even more skeptical because I didnt see him make it. His excuse was that he didn't know how to make the drink, and the friend he was spending time with earlier who made the drink for him to try, had to leave so he couldn't make it in front of me and he asked him to make some real quick for me to try later. Wtf, because it was exactly 2 drinks even though we were expecting a group. Also, it was literally a shot glass. I'm not a drinker but I'm not sure if people normally mix shots? He was being annoyingly pushy, and I told him I'll try it after it warms up a bit because I didnt want the cold to hurt my teeth, so he turned around to do something in the kitchen. When he did that, I switched our drinks when he wasn't looking and just sipped it and acted like I hated it still, but he gulped my drink down without hesitation. Sure enough, this guy started getting sleepy and couldn't stay awake a few minutes after taking the drink. I left his place and never talked to him again after that. This was in 2012. In hindsight, I should have taken the glass and had it tested, but I was young and naieve, and didn't think about it, or if the cops would even take me seriosuly since no cr¡me had actually been committed since I left, it was badically my word against his, & if it was anything HE had it in his system since I switched the drinks. But, it can literally be anybody! Look at the poor woman in France I think it was, who was having it done to her by her HUSBAND! No one goes out expecting to be preyed upon & sometimes bartenders or other women are in on it, or even friends can set you up, not just "creepy weirdos." I'm so sorry that happened to you though & I hope you still manage to find peace despite your isolation. I completely understand. I'm always squeezing my waterbottles making sure there aren't puncture holes, or refuse to take drinks from people unless its sealed. Ill wait hours before I get a drink sometimes if it doesnt have a safet seal and is air tight. It really messes with your head.

GHB is incredibly dangerous, it’s quite popular in my home region in Northern Europe, one small mistake (or mix with alcohol) and you can die on the spot. People sometimes literally just collapse while standing up and that’s it. If I ever heard someone give that to me involuntarily I would be very angry indeed
