This should be a moment of reflection for the entirety of hip hop. If there is anybody that has had more influence on the culture and what we value in it, it’s Diddy. Promiscuity and materialism were in hip hop before Diddy and Bad Boy, but he made it almost integral to the culture. So much so, that almost every mainstream rapper nowadays is a descendant of that ethos. If this doesn’t make you reconsider the lessons you learned as a young person and reflect on how much one sick man has spiritually diminished the culture, then you’ll never get it.

You can't pin all the promiscuity and materialism on Puff. If anything, what you see today in "hip hop" comes from the illegal drug trade culture not to mention the South's influence, but that's another story. What I'll always give Puff credit for is his rhetoric and reputation of coming up in the world legally and possibly getting unsolicited hate for it, something that most people can relate to in one way or another.

Yeah I read Mark's book. That book, how he screwed over Shyne and how Diddy made Da Band to walk across The Brooklyn Bridge to get him the cheesecake, I tore up my Diddy fan club card. Then hearing that Lox interview on how Diddy screwed them over with their publishing and that video "Puffy Is Poison" or "The Bad Boy Curse" made it official and people got suspicious about Diddy after that. Then when Gene Deal told us what happened during that week that lead to Biggie's death and then come to find out Biggie was supposed to be in London instead of that party made even one noticed that Diddy is one evil bastard.
