*Video of new didges for sale: 29 Eucalyptus Didgeridoos (all traditional Aboriginal instruments): • 29 Eucalyptus Didgerid...
Traditional eucalyptus didgeridoos are hollowed out by termites and sculpted into a playable instrument by a craftsman. This makes each instrument completely unique in sound and playability. Decorating a didgeridoo in the traditional way is also an art form that has many layers of deeper meaning.
These 5 eucalyptus didgeridoos have a lot in common and a lot of differences. The best way to compare them is to play them side by side.
All of these instruments have been sold but more didgeridoos are available for purchase at www.didgeprojec...
Question of the day: What is your preferred type of didgeridoo? Do you like play on eucalyptus, agave, yucca, plastic, hemp, carbon fiber, local hardwoods, or other? Post your response in the comments section below.

I think... The coolest thing about didgeridoos is that termites dig it. That's a true love of music😆

Oh,these are fine instruments indeed,not one of them is inferior to another! I have a cherished Mago from the Kimberly’s,dates from 1946. 3 Djalu instruments,and a Badikupa,too. But I own an unknown maker,a Yidaki,covered in duck tape and paper tape,it is ceremonial,it was covered in this tape for that reason. It is literally a perfect natural conical bore,it almost plays itself,soooo effortless! I’ve been playing since 1997,I should be more skillful,but it’s ok,I welcome the drone,and the drone welcomes me.

I learned on bamboo and have made plenty of pvc didges. I think the main concern with bamboo is that it can crack, so its good to put an epoxy coat on it if you can. I've also played some decent teak woods, which are generally made in indonesia.

All great-sounding didgeridoos, from my novice point of view. The most haunting are the final two to be demonstrated, to me at least, though I am not sure that (if i could play) that would be my prime criterion for choosing one. Thanks, that was very cool.

Loved the fast and aggressive yadaki , and the large yadaki, Had a beautiful yew didge, wonderful back pressure, and warm tones, Birch was more rich in tone, great sound, found the oak sound to be a bit dampened, beech was very noisy, Eucalyptus was beautiful, loving the vids, cheers mate

These beautiful yidaki and mago need to be played in the traditional style to hear their voice properly. Yidaki and mago really need the cut in the rhythmic phrase. It's all about the cut and passive voice in traditional playing. Check out the playing of Daryl Dikarna or David Blanasi :-) Lovely sticks!!
@didgeproject
@didgeproject 7 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right. I don't play in the traditional style and I don't know very many people in the U.S. that do. These are crossover instruments, meaning they sound good with both styles. Thanks for your feedback. Feel free to post a link to a David Blanasi video that you like.

Just so you know, they are called Yidaki, not Didge. Didgeridoo is a word given to us by colonisers and imposed on our culture and language, as is the word Aboriginal, which suggests we are abnormal or not original. Nice playing btw

@Luka1180
@Luka1180 4 жыл бұрын
You are correct about the instrument's name, but not about the term "Aboriginal", which is derived from the Latin aborigines, which simply means "original inhabitants". It has no linguistical ties to the terms "abnormal" or "abnormality." The Latin word in turn comes from two Latin words, ab and origine, which together forms the saying ab origine "from the beginning." But the idea that it comes from "abnormal" or means "abnormal" is a common myth today. I suspect it's come about because the indigenous people felt they were being treated differently with a different term in general, or or it's been championed by some people who didn't know the truth until many people believed it.
