This is the second half of my 2021 DIY bowhunting trip in Kansas. I was fortunate enough to be able to take a nice buck on the last afternoon hunt of the trip. #onxhunt #gigginbiggins

This dude goes to all the work of hunting his tail off, self filming, being humble enough (and realistic enough) to share his ups and downs, and all these know-it-alls feel they have an obligation to tell him what he should shoot, or how to call, or critique his stand set up, or discount the buck he killed as not being big enough. Seriously, WTH is wrong with you people? Let this man legally shoot whatever he wants however he wants! Dude seems pretty solid to me.

@theruralranger Жыл бұрын
Its been a wild season. Stayed on a 10 point for over a month (no trail cameras used) and passed up on a nice 8 in the 10's area. I regret passing up on it now. But what do you do. At one point I bumped my sight and didn't know it until I took a few practice shots. I guess I was lucky I didn't get a shot at the 10 while my sight was off. Haven't seen the 10 for over a month now. Its been a really fun season though honestly. Didn't have an issue filling the freezer and friends and family freezers with doe meat. And I've got January to hunt also! I'll upload a video of me shooting a pig here in the next few days when I didn't know my sight was off. Blood trail went for a while but stopped and I never found the pig, sadly. But eventually I'll be putting up one of my doe harvest videos. :)

I use videos to educate my 14 and 17 year olds on hunting and showing them that we don’t live in a video game world of redos and perfect shots. I personally hunt to fill freezers. Last year I got 5 does. Had one shot at a sweet 6 point and hit a branch at first light. Literally last night I steaked out my last roast from last year. My family bought beef maybe 4 times since last October! Hope someone has something negative to say about that!!!

@dullblades85932 жыл бұрын
Hey man, love the channel. Been a subscriber for about 2 years now. Congrats on a killer buck! I have to say though, I think those bucks were running away from calls and rattling because it's too wide open where you were. If you notice, what's the first thing any buck does when it hears a grunt or rattle? They stop and look around. From my experience, calling seems to work best in heavily wooded or brushy areas where bucks can hear, but can't see very far, so they come to investigate. I'm thinking the bucks in this video heard "deer sounds," looked across that field, saw nothing, and it freaked them out. Maybe a decoy would've worked in that situation? I don't know... Just my two cents. Either way, you got it done. Again, congrats on an awesome buck! Keep up the good work. Can't wait for more content.
@HaveBowWillTravel2 жыл бұрын
That’s definitely a good possibility. But I’m usually on the edge of the woods and they’d have to come to the edge or they wouldn’t be able to see in. Although I’m sure a decoy would help I try to only call to deer that are leaving so there’s nothing to lose really
@dullblades85932 жыл бұрын

The only thing i would promote is to getting heavier than 430 grains total arrow weight. Say like another 100 grains at least. You didn't even get a pass through at 5 yards with the help of gravity which is concerning. I would expect that with a mechanical, but you are shooting a fixed blade, correct? An arrow that passes through is more deadly than one that is plugging the bleeding and the deer are less likely to run as far. And if you do miss vitals completely the deer will less likely get infected in my opinion, without an arrow in there. Great Buck by the way.

It might just be me but anyone noticing white tail bucks racks changing? It’s getting harder to find those buck with the G2’s and G3’s an so on almost being same length. All the buck I see in multiple hunting areas there’s a huge difference in size of individual points in racks. Been seeing a lot more buck without brow tines and a lot more with grab claws and non typical buck.

Living in KS all my life and hurting different areas all over, I believe your calling to aggressively. If you get a negative reaction in one area to calls, don't use them. Don't give up your location especially in the open. The ground is better than the small trees. Promise. Just learn to break up your outline and move slowly. Lot of places I'm hunting now has 1# trees. You got the persistence, fine tune your calling, get rid of can. It can work but old adjustable grunt tube like the true talker has more natural sound. Can make soft or loud beats with it. Don't know if you can still find them but I have had mine 20+ yrs and still good.

If I see a coyote while I'm deer hunting, I automatically flip over to coyote hunting mode, even willing to lose an arrow in an attempt to take out just one of those!

why the hate on for coyotes...

@@bneaclab1 You'd know, if you've seen what they can do to other wildlife, pets, & livestock. Especially if not controlled, getting mange, rabies.......

@@L2FlyMN I grew up and lived for years around livestock, coyotes, and pets. You can't bs me about that. Yeah they are a predator and yeah they can take a pet or a young animal, but it is seldom. Just like the wolf there is a mad hate on for anything predator theses days. It is sad. They eat rodents for the most part and are an important part of the ecosystem. Seems like today the attitude is shoot em when you see em..Yee Haw yippee kiyay and all that.
