Lyrics
I didn't hear you leave
I wonder how am I still here
And I don't want to move a thing
It might change my memory
Oh I am what I am
I'll do what I want
But I can't hide
I won't go
I won't sleep
I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me
I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting here with me
I don't want to call my friends
They might wake me from this dream
And I can't leave this bed
Risk forgetting all that's been
Oh I am what I am
I'll do what I want
But I can't hide
I won't go
I won't sleep
I can't breathe
Until you're resting here with me
I won't leave
I can't hide
I cannot be
Until you're resting here with me

I was 21 when this was finally released here in the UK in early 2001... Memories of doing two jobs (accounts assistant by day, barman in a nightclub) - this was massive on UK radio that year, and it used to play regularly on the late night show while I lounged around in my bedsit after work, reading science fiction and fantasy books 📚 and getting drunk 🍺🍻🥂🍾🍸🍹🍷 as often as possible... Innocent days... Had forgotten what a beautifully eerie, haunting tune it was... Revisiting it now as a 43-year-old with an 11-year-old son on the night of Boxing Day after a busy Christmas, relaxing alone for a while, playing it with the lights off with a coffee ☕️ and brandy 🥃, with a wood fire burning... Absolute bliss! This song hits completely differently 22 years on... Pure magic!

of course.. Strange as it may seem when our mind hears the sounds of music can suddenly change our feelings in an instant into another dimension taking us to another place back in time then touches our heart making the memories come alive just once more amazing as it all seems lost for words only thoughts to linger with us until we leave this world ... Good memories for sure... I cried listening to this on the bus I was literally overwhelmed with emotions. Such a feel-good nostalgic vibe. Such a freaking nostalgia attack.... that hearing this after all of these years. It gives me so many shivers... Just imagine yourself driving a car on a motorway at orangy sunset remembering your childhood and good music... Loneliness... I guess I'm the only Sri Lankan who listens to the song right now.. Bit strange tho. Love from "lockdown" London. Be kind... xx

@@aaronsmith4940 actually it's nearly impossible to find most videos from 6yrs+ ago on KZbin that arent over a million views even by searching the exact title! You used to be able to ask Google anything and you'd find millions of things from old study's from the 60s to the newest stuff but now you cant find anything from before 2016 that isnt one of the mainstream news things, you cant find a single piece of research or useful information from before 2016 anymore on Google because they wiped everything that wasnt part of their global agenda , now all you can find is their political bull no matter what you search. Plants and identification are pretty much the only things you can find any real information about anymore. I used to be a chemist and I could find anything to do with chemistry now you cant find anything except like 13 results when you search anything related to anything that isnt in modern media. Google pretty much erased like 99.99% of all the information humans had gathered and used the internet to spread/keep alive! It's actually terrible how the one good use the internet had is mostly gone and the internet has destroyed humans, people are terrible because the internet, before the internet every park, every mall, every bowling alley, every drive in, every theater, every event, everyone was there, everyone was social, everyone was able to just live their lives and there wasnt people actively trying to destroy everything and all values and all morals in America and the world and divide us more than ever before.

Dido in my eyes is one of THE most talented singer/songwriters of her generation. I remember back in the day when Dido was very popular when she did ‘Here with Me’, ‘Thank You’, ‘White Flag’ and of course ‘Stan’ with Eminem, all of them are timeless classics and Pop Music was good back then. Sadly they’re aren’t many artists like Dido in the mainstream Pop Music scene nowadays.

Dido is saving my life right now.. Mental health is a complex thing and isn't a joke and you never know when someone is at their lowest point in life and just needs someone or something to take away that suffocating feeling of impending depression but just remember that no matter who you are or what you've done someone will always care about you whether they are in your life or not and there is always something you can do to try and turn things positive again.. Don't let yourself become another waste of life, everyone on this earth is equal and your life is just a precious from the moment you were brought into this crazy world.. If anyone needs someone when they are reading this don't hesitate to respond to this comment and I will try my hardest to be there for you! I have sat here feeling like I do right now that the easiest thing would be for me to be dead but I have lost good friends through suicide and I have seen first-hand the devastation it causes.. Try and speak out, try and sort our your issues as best you can and remember not everything can be fixed immediately, somethings take time.. One Love

The vibes of growing up in the 80's and 90's and the nostalgia I have for a simpler time in life... Am I the only one who is looking back in time in 2024 and wishing I had a second chance in the past? Am I the only one who is worried about the next generation of goats and sheep being manipulated into dividing people and bringing darkness and chaos in the future? Am I the only one who is worried about the people around the world and would like everything negative and destructive to stop because what we are fighting for is not worth it? Please let me know in the comments. I have tears singing this song...

It's ['80s and '90s]. The apostrophe goes before the numbers. The purpose of an apostrophe is to show where something was truncated. Ex: [It is] becomes [It's], [something] becomes [somethin'] when you want to show someone is saying it with an accent that removes the 'g'. So for years, you place the apostrophe before the other digits to show that the [19] part of 1980 and 1990 was removed.

So, funny story. When this album first dropped, my dad was obsessed with it and would play it on his stereo all day every day. At the same time, Lego released the first wave of Bionicle, and I would hear this song playing in the background while I played with the toys on the white carpeted floor. Ever since then, I associate Dido with the first year of Bionicle, and the color and texture of that white carpeting in the afternoon sunlight.

+Friday wiggly Did you hit your hit and completely forgot about all the crap that year? This song is from 1999, in that year Cher got #1 with a autotune song which T-Pain still can't match, Britney Spears got big through Hit me Baby 1 more time and when the likes of Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez were among the top. There is great music every single year, just because you only remember the good stuff, doesn't mean it was better then the music that is released these days.

+benjaminvdvyt firstly never compare artists with decades of experience in the business like Cher to the new artists like TPain ! secondly while i agree there are some songs today that are pretty good , most of them are not good ! now days we have songs that are just tacky and over sexualized ! and they for some reason make it to the top of the charts ! i feel true artists should be passionate about the music they make , but it seems like all we hear on the radio is trash ! if you truly believe there music today that surpasses the music of the past more power to you , but for me i think most of it is not that good !
@benjaminvdvyt
@benjaminvdvyt 9 жыл бұрын
Cher's comment would be fantastic, if it wasn't for the fact that her biggest hit ever, was in fact her auto-tune song. I'm not saying this says anything about her, but it says something about the 'good ol' days', where she had more succes with autotune then anything else. We have songs now that are oversexualized? I don't know how old you are, but I vividly remember all the videoclips with girls having very little on, whether they be the singers or just dancers in the background. Or did you think all those pop girls got big due to their singing talents?

@userfridaywiggly18943 9 жыл бұрын
Music today is not as good as music back in the day , thats how i feel , a majority of artists Today dont put in hard work or dedication, some not all . cher has had many big hits before 1999 , before autotune was created , so your point is invalid ,

I sometimes wish they would reboot Roswell, but it would never be as good as the original.

After I first saw the movie 'Love Actually', I knew I had to have the soundtrack. Every last song on there is fire. I truly love Dido's voice and her music. And the scene in the movie over which this song is playing, hits me hard every time I watch it. Bittersweet. 🥰🥰

That dark, desolate place in my brain where I go when I'm missing her, wanting her and thinking about the possibilities we could of had.. This song is playing. Providing comfort and sadness at the same time. I cannot be, until your resting here with me. Thank you Dido.
