People marvel over the _StarTropics_ letter, but consider the market for video games back then: kids age 8 to 12. Plus, you got all sorts of promotional paper ads in video game boxes, and very few people kept the cardboard box instead of just the plastic sleeve for the cartridge. Meaning, that letter was probably either lost or thrown out by a parent well before it was needed.

You missed a huge Takamaru cameo. In Super Mare Maker 2, there is a sound effect you can put in a level. When the player touches it, Takamaru and several of his enemies run across the screen for a while, blocking the view on what's actually going on.

Interesting fact: the dual screen Punch Out arcade game was voiced by Don James, one of Nintendo of America's first employees, who also was responsible for writing the English localized text for Star Tropics (among many, many other accomplishments). James is still working at NOA, though he just recently announced he will be retiring in August of 2024

@MegaZeta
@MegaZeta Жыл бұрын
Tbf the original _StarTropics_ letter is also evidence of how annoying Nintendo could be. Most who played video games back then were kids, game boxes were full of useless paper advertising and most people kept the cartridge's plastic sleeve, throwing out the cardboard box. A few kids / parents might have kept the letter. Most probably lost it or threw it away.
