Being covered in pitch black paint is strikingly obvious as part of the theme of the music video, relating to the quote "inter dimensional bridge between the colour filled streets and the pitch black voodoo-room" as the artists themselves put it. Where, mind, the "pitch black voodoo-room" features Yo-Landi again as well as multiple dancers of natural black and white skin type all still painted with the same pitch-black paint as per theme. Calling this artistic choice out as racism seems to paint the accuser as someone who sees all dark-skinned people as similar enough the pitch black and yellow eyed voodoo panther-like creature Yo-Landi's look is shaped after. In not very surprising contrast, there's almost no complaint of any of the shots featuring people painted with snow white paint which could have easily been made just as ignorantly into a claim about racial caricatures of light skinned people. It's ironic as well as dissapointing that in a video art spotlighting a take on rooted African culture with subthemes about western superficiality, people still manage to look past it in favor of 'calling out' something faux-problematic to fell like they did their part in fighting the good fight.

I'm not sure what the intentions were behind this video, so I don't feel right calling Antwoord racist. However, out of context, the video does seem more racist than an "artistic choice." It's more than her painting her skin black, but about her painting her lips giant and red as well as wearing yellow contacts. This, of course, is mainly an American depiction of Black people; however, it's *still* a depiction of *all* Black people. Also, considering that they are White South Africans, I can see why people are more sensitive about this considering some parts of South African history (such as Apartheid).
