I absolutely love these type of animation and art styles. This deserves millions of views :D
I've rewatched this video many times and tried to get the whole picture of what is happening for the duration of it. I've discussed this with all of my friends and wanted to share our findings and thoughts. Even though some of the symbolism might have went over our heads due to differences in cultures, I want to describe how I interpret the story. First things first, a lot of things point to the possibility of the brothers being musicians. At the very beginning we see Kuro playing an invisible instrument alone, most likely he's alone because his brother is already dead. At the end, we see both Kuro and Shiro playing together, most likely conveying that when Shiro was alive, they used to play together. Their synchronization gave me a thought that music could have been the reason for their argument. Not only that, but another piece of evidence that supports this idea are the scattered music sheets we see when the fight is showcased. I'm inclined to believe that maybe the fight happaned because they couldn't really synchronize on a piece like they usually did, or maybe for some reason Shiro didn't want to play at all. This may also explain why instruments are invisible. They could remain in the past, like memories. A special role in this video is reserved for the archers that appear with transformed Shiro. They are most likely something abstract and could represent feelings (regret, pain, hurt etc.) or the fight itself. It seems like Shiro in his anguish uses them as means to not let Kuro get close to him. Maybe they represent Shiro's destructive arguments during the fight, which don't hold any water, but are still quite hurtful. Kuro didn't let his hurt stop him, and still desperately tried to reach his brother by leaping off that cliff, which really surprised Shiro. Shiro doesn't try to use the archer, which was standing right in front of him to protect himself, instead letting Kuro faze right through and hug him. Shiro doesn't shut himself from his brother completely, and if whatever Kuro said when they were hugging made Shiro calm down, then it makes me think that Shiro didn't choose to leave this world on his own accord. And, speaking of the archers, after the hug, they not only suffocate on black smoke (possibly die), they also put away their weapons in animation reverse to when they first appeared. Makes me think that it tries to highlight the fact that they represent the argument rather than Shiro himself. Shiro, it seems, is much more emotional than his brother, and he lets anger or other strong emotions get the better of him. My friend proposed an idea, that theoretically after their fight, Shiro took their car for a ride, maybe to clear his mind, and accidentally drove off a cliff into the sea below. Another more sad suggestion, even though unlikely, is that they were both in the car, and Kuro survived, but couldn't save his brother. I really like that part of the video when they are both in car, with Shiro driving and Kuro sitting on the passenger seat. If we think about it, we don't really know how Shiro's death happaned. I had a few ideas, that Kuro was there when it happaned. We also can't exclude the option that Shiro took his own life, but I'm more inclined to believe that after the fight Kuro went after his brother. We can see in the scene right after the fight, when Shiro is walking down a red corridor, before he reaches the end he turns around as if Kuro was following him and tried to get his attention. Right after he turns around he is swept under the waves. Maybe it shows that Shiro really fell of a cliff (that cliff is 100% a very important place, there is a lot of emphasis made on specifically the cliff during the video) accidentally. If we take this line of thought than we can go further and say that after Shiro left their home Kuro went after him, but Shiro didn't want to talk to his brother. And when they ended up near the cliff, Kuro thought that maybe they can finally talk, since there is no place to run from there. Shiro on the other hand, in his already emotionally compromised state, operating only on emotions, could have fallen into complete hysterics, repelling his brother's help, and accidentally tripped into the sea below. Maybe this cliff used to be a special place for them, that's why they decided to come here. All in all, everything that has to do with Shiro's spirit seems like a nightmare. Kuro's meeting with transformed Shiro in the sea, could all be a dream (we see Kuro waking up in, what could be, a room they shared together, and looks to his right, where theoretically Shiro used to sleep on the other side of the room; it feels like he is trying to get a sense of whether he's in a dream or not, based on what he sees on the opposite side of the room; maybe when Kuro look over he sees more horrific images that run through his brain, that feel like a dream within a dream, when you couldn't really wake up). It could be that it's all not just a dream, but a manifestation of his feelings regarding the argument. Maybe after waking up and regaining his senses he decided to return to the cliff during sunrise and get some closure or relief. His brother is gone, but that spot is still important, even if it's painful to acknowledge the loss... It also worries me that after Kuro "woke up", we can see him sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in hands one moment and the next thing we know is that he's being knocked over to the wall, as if something physically pushed him. I hope it's not representing Shiro's hit, but rather an abstract shove of Kuro's feelings and memories. We can also tie the way Kuro was shoved on his bed right after the scene with Shiro being swept by the waves with our theory of them reaching the cliff together after the fight. As in, maybe Shiro tried to push Kuro away physically, but the recoil made him trip off the cliff. Many thanks to the author for creating such a masterpiece 🙏🏻✨ And, of course, I will watch it many more times because of the amazing animation and music. My respect to you. I have already shared your videos with whoever I could. Thanks for your hard work ❤

I think the theory of Shiro tripping off the cliff makes so much sense, and honestly the archers and the dreams possibly have a very specific meaning- something that only the animator knows

I figured out why the ending hurts- the colors are different. Everything else is saturated like a dream, but the ending is more like a real morning when you wake up and realize somebody is really, really gone.
i genuinely don't know how many times ive bawled my eyes out to this masterpiece. i wholeheartedly envy those who are hearing it for the first time. that feeling that shooked my whole body, i want to experience it again so bad

I was attracted by the cover of this video, so I clicked. Although there’s no lyrics in this video, I was deeply touched by the story of the twins and the music. I just wanna let you know that I love this video──your painting style, your music and the story(I was surprised when I found out that you did all of them! You’re so talented!!!)──very much, and thank you for your beautiful artwork. Btw, I also listened to your other music and I like them all, and I’ll look forward to your new artwork in the future! I wish you all the best. PS: English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes. Besides, I can’t speak Japanese, so I think it’s nice of you to write the description in English as well.

I really liked this piece- the music is moving, despite the lack of lyrics; the animation has beautiful colours and abstract style; the characters are well thought out too. The opening sequence with Kuro playing the guitar linking back to the final sequence when they’re playing together is a lovely ending touch. The replay of the sequence with the eyes and severed head is played near the beginning 0:27 and at the end, except reversed and colours inverted 2:45 . I think this was meant to represent Shiro’s (who is shown to be much more emotional than his brother) transformation to that raging state at sea, and then him reverting to normal when they make up. The ending is very touching, with Kuro standing on the cliff top while Shiro hovers, then the next scene shiro has been removed and the colours are much more realistic. I really liked this. Thank for making such a meaningful message 😊 Keep up the good work❤
