Came out good mate. My uncle had one of these but it was blue with a white roof. Who's part of the jag Club here in Queensland Australia and they used to go to the local Raceway at called Lakeside. Back in the 70s when I was about 8 he took me and my brother out there to watch him race around the track. They weren't allowed to take passengers and had to take all the loose stuff out of their boot. We were standing in the pit lane and he came in after a couple hours and put all his crap in the boot. Loaded me and my brother in the car and then took us around the track. I remember going to school and telling all my mates how fast we went it was mind-blowing ride. My uncle was a bit crazy, another time out there rolled Valiant ute and writ it off. I remember once you pay me $10 to polish his car up with this really hard polish. It's quite a bit of money back in those days I spent hours. Cheers Graham

One of my favourite models is the MK 10 Jaguar. When you said how large the MK 10 was other cars I can remember being large are the mk 3 Ford Zodiac and the Vauxhall Cresta PA. You speaking about having the XJ 6 , the series 1 and 2 were really the last Jaguars that looked like Jaguars . After that the series 3 XJ came out with the rubber around the chrome bumpers and that was it
@martindaredare6 ай бұрын
Yes I totally agree the series 1,2,and 3 were the last and the other one xj40 I think was awful, but I had the re designed s type that was a nice car to drive ,now I have an XF 3ltr turbo sport sports break . All the best Martin

Hi mate great job on the Jag, my brother used to have a white mark 2 in the 80s and my first and last Jag was like you a mark 1 XJ6 mine had the 4.2 six in it. It was white with blue interior, beautiful car but very expensive on parts and maintenance in Aus so it had to go. The second car I had was a Holden HT brougham it was a large luxury limo type car with a 5Lr v8 coupled to a two speed auto transition two speeds off and fast.🤣🤣 There is a 1970 model coming up for auction on the Burns auction sight here in Aus. When I sold mine in 1979 I got $2.000 Ausy dollars for it, this ones starting bid is $75.000.😲 Blimy wish I'd kept the bloomin thing now.😂😂 My favourite car chase movie would have to be The Italian job with Michael Cane and the Mini Coopers. Catch you on the next one mate stay safe.👍🏻
@martindaredare6 ай бұрын
Hi Geoff, yes I can imagine the parts for your jag would be expensive, but luckily here they were reasonable. The main problem being the rust . BL didn't do the jags reputation a lot of good with there poor quality, on the series 2 xj6 ,but the series 3 was a good one untill thay changed again to that horrible square box shape ,and in my opinion have only just got back into the Grove again with the xf ,witch is what I have at the moment 3ltr turbo sport estate. But with all the new taxes the government is coming up with ,it's making it difficult to hold on to it . Well od pal see you wensday.

No, you didn't miss anything,🤣 I changed the colour because the green I was going to use was a matilc, so it wouldn't have been appropriate.All the best Martin

looks great, love the maroon colour, a nice sight after all these cliche colours. :) those casting lines really were a menace. what were the mould-makers thinking? :0 one good movie would be The Driver from the 70's. has more than one car chase, and they get longer with the movie, too. :)
@martindaredare6 ай бұрын

Excellent restoration--the colour really makes the car stand out (although some might say that the bad guys making the getaway would want to blend in to their surroundings). As for film and TV chases, The Italian Job is my favourite--but the original version. The remake is an OK film, but the final chase scene just doesn't measure up IMHO.

Car chase/getaway film? Ronin. French Connection, Bullitt, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. In that order, plus of course, the most extravagent of all, The Blues Brothers! But back to the Jag! Nice casting and worth the clean up, though I might have been tempted to split the car as a two-tone to disguise the missing swage line. And I did not know that Brooklands Green, was a dark red! very day's a school day! Sorry! Great stories on the old Jags! A lot of the getaway cars were big Fords - they were a bit more reliable than the Jaguars... Zephyr and Zodiac Mark 3s. More boot space for the swag, though poorer handling, but a bit less conspicuous outside a Post Office! I am delighted to see that it's not just me who manages to chip paint on moving parts at assembly - I feel for you there. Great result. Really nice job!
