I have a few from when I was a kid I’d like to try and send you I don’t know if you remember but back in the 80s they had the ones that wrecked I have a couple of them still I’d like to have restored

I just got 3 of these in a vintage lot - one from my home state. Loved these as a kid, happy to have some again.

My first car was a 80's foxbody. Best car I ever owned. I still miss it. Thanks for sharing this.

I like that you kept the bumper. It's unique and screams 80s.

Miss the work you do on here. You still have some of the best paint jobs for diecast.

I had the silver one with the green snake as a kid! What a transformation!

Hello! You could do an eddie van Halen Frankenstrat color themed 80's car. That would be rad! Keep being you! That makes me smile!

That masking work is superb. Awesome.

Nice!!! I remember having a couple of those when I was a kid. That hideous rear bumper is what stuck in my head 🤣🤣

This car came out gorgeous. But I probably would’ve filed that bumper down to nothing lol
@diecastchannelminiaturasde23572 жыл бұрын
That Mustang has turned up great! There's one thing I would do, though: I'd file that awful rear bumper until I could get it to the shape of the original one and then paint it body color to match the rest of the car. I would also perhaps cut those side mufflers off and perhaps save them for another project! Still, looks way better than it was before!

My thoughts exactly!!

That turned out nicely...so nicely it is now easy to look past that funky bumper. 👍

Great job giving new life to this diecast! It brings back good memories of one of my first cars, an '85 Mustang - black with red interior & pinstripes. I drove the wheels off of that car during college!

Beautiful 80’s Mustang! Fitting you gave it a bright red paint job to go with the Indiana plate! I’m sure that will make any IU fan proud! I remember Fast111s as a kid. Bumper aside, they were fast and some interesting models were offered, but even as a kid, I hated the paint jobs! Every vehicle in the line looked like Rainbow Brite threw up on them! Had they offered a few models with the colors you applied, they may have appealed more to the buying masses. But back to this car….you did an amazing job!!!!

Details were great. Nice work! I still have all mine in a Matchbox case. Kenner made some fresh looking vehicles in the 80s.

I LOVE the back to factory restorations. It's very fun, I love factory-stock cars.

These are my favorites. Taking a bad looking car and making it look incredible. It's really amazing to see how good some castings are, but horrible paint jobs make them look like junk.
@BrianMcKnight682 жыл бұрын
My Mom worked at Kenner, here in Cincinnati, for many years during my childhood and teen years (mid 70’s thru the early 90’s). I had bunches of these Fast 111’s, including a special chrome Corvette with my name on the the license plate! This one turned out great and I’m glad you kept the weird bumper.

Man I've been trying to find one of these Kenner Mustangs for ages! The casting went on to become a Matchbox in 1987, got a couple of those. Love how this one turned out, the details really bring it to life

Great stuff. The only thing that needs to be black is the air inlet grill by the windshield. Bring back great memories from high school.

My grandpa's got couple of random old discast cars I guess from when my dad was a kid, and I've never wanted to play with the strange green snake covered mustang with a bumper that I never understood. Crazy you found the exact same one and made it look so much better lol

My "80's Mustang Story" is about a '70's Mustang. One of just 500 Dealer Only Mustang GT 500's by Shelby. That was me. It was in the 80's but the car was all 70's - plexiglass rear windows and a 427 Tri Power 500 horse with four on the floor. What a story. Real too. It all started...
@MichaelBlueMusic Жыл бұрын
Love this!! As soon as you stripped this and we saw that beautiful casting underneath I immediately ordered the cheapest one I could find on eBay! Probably going to paint it like a silver ‘79 Pace Car, but with only the trim black like you did here, not the whole black bottom. Love it! Thanks!! (And, hope you’re well! Please come back soon!!) 💙

Reminds me of my first Drag strip build, a '79 mustang. It was somewhat red and blue and primer grey LOL. I had no budget for paint spent it all on "go fast parts". car ran 12's all day NA back in the n=mid '80's . Thanks for the flash backs!!

It's beautiful and you have a new subscriber! When I was a kid and these were new in stores, my mom bought me the Shark Shifter and a friend had the Rally Champ. This line of cars were very fast compared to other diecast cars of the time. There were also a lot of cool castings with interesting shapes, paint jobs and crazy names.

Looks great 👍 I have a bunch of those old Kenner Fast 111’s. A few of them were still being made as matchbox cars without the big rear bumpers of course. They were purchased by matchbox at some point and I think it was 3 or 4 cars made it over as matchbox cars one of them was this mustang casting. I forget what the others were. Thanks for sharing your great work on all the cars you have done.

Looks great as always. Would never have thought that the fox body Mustangs would develop into such a fast drag car. That rear bumper is a badly done example of a rear splitter. Why they did it to the original we may never know.

Fantastic work! I remember hearing "Rollin' in My 5.0" blaring out of every other Mustang in my high school parking lot. If you also didn't have a mullet and Zubaz pants to go with your Mustang, you probably were just a mechanic working on your first custom. If you did have the mullet and Zubaz, you probably had a dad who bought you the Mustang. Me? I drove a horrible 1979 Buick Regal.

I don't think these castings ever made it to germany... this is a sweet result, the casting is surprisingly well-detailed. :) never mind the "glass" insert. they must have had some plastic leftovers and used it for that. ah well, what can you do. :) love the paintjob, and the wheels look great, too. ^^ my story with these... 3 years ago when I was working as a car mechanic, a customer brought a 80 HT 5.0 to get back in shape for technic checkup and registering for classic ride. so we tried to get a replacement for the front mask, which was misshaped and losing paint, and came up short. NOBODY had a mask for a 78-80 mustang, not even used... so it got repainted. also, the interior plastics were so brittle in places it was no fun. my own ride is a Ford Taunus from 1974, and the interior holds up better, even without garage or shelter. :P I was also disappointed by the tiny trunk. but the customer was happy in the end, so there. :)
