What's going on guys, welcome to Songkran festival in Thailand!
It represents Thai new year and is celebrated by having the biggest water fight in the world. Can you imagine a whole country in a water fight? EPIC.

Songkran festival is one of the most important festivals that has been performed for a long time, not only in Thailand but also in other countries such as Laos and Cambodia. เทศกาลวันสงกรานต์ เป็นเทศกาลสำคัญที่มีมานาน และไม่ได้มีเฉพาะในประเทศไทยเท่านั้นแต่ยังไม่ในประเทศเพื่อนบ้าน เช่น ลาว และกัมพูชา It is also known as Thai Traditional New Year’s Day, which falls during April of 13th - 15th every year. เทศกาลวันสงกรานต์ ยังถือว่าเป็นประเพณีส่งท้ายปีเก่าต้อนรับปีใหม่ของไทยตั้งแต่สมัยโบราณ เริ่มตั้งแต่ 13 - 15เมษายน ของทุกปี The word “Songkran” derives from Sanskrit language and means to pass or to move into. คำว่า “สงกรานต์” มาจากภาษาสันสกฤต แปลว่า ก้าวขึ้น ย่างขึ้น ซึ่งเป็นการนับปีใหม่โดยวิธีนับทางสุริยคติ Songkran festival takes place over three days every year, on the 13th - 15th of April. วันสงกรานต์มีทั้งสิ้น 3 วัน คือวันที่ 13 - 15 เมษายน ของทุกปี Do you know of any activities during Songkran Festival? Yes, sure…Songkran is very famous. We know that most of people splash the water on each other. But I also know Songkran tradition is an important custom for Thai families, community and religion. วันสงกรานต์นี้มีชื่อเสียงมากๆ และในวันสงกรานต์เราก็จะเล่นสาดน้ำใส่กัน แต่นอกจากนี้ประเพณีสงกรานต์เป็นประเพณีที่สำคัญด้านครอบครัว, ชุมชน, สังคม และศาสนา It is a great opportunity for family members to gather together, so…what do you usually do when you see each other on that day? การที่สมาชิกในครอบครัวได้มีโอกาสกลับมาพบเจอกันนั้นมีคุณค่า We express our respect to our elders by pouring scented water onto our parents’ and grandparents’ hands. แปลว่า เราจะแสดงความเคารพต่อผู้ใหญ่ด้วยการรดน้ำผสมน้ำหอม ลงบนมือคุณพ่อ คุณแม่ หรือ ปู่ย่า ตายาย The elders in turn wish the youngsters good luck and prosperity, so Songkran Day is also Family Day. แปลว่า พวกท่านจะอวยพรให้เราโชคดี เจริญรุ่งเรือง ดังนั้นวันสงกรานต์ จึงถือเป็นวันครอบครัวด้วย The value to community is the opportunity to create unity within the community, so as to join the acquire merits, meet each other and enjoy entertaining events. สงกรานต์มีคุณค่าแก่ชุมชนเพราะเป็นโอกาสที่จะสร้างความสามัคคีในชุมชนได้พบปะกันร่วมกันทำบุญ และมาสนุกร่วมกัน Happy new year

I beg to disagree, Songkran sure is fun but it is NOT the biggest water fight in the world....Thingyan Water Festival in Myanmar is the biggest by a long shot!

Never heard of thingyan but thanks to you i searched it and how could it be the biggest water fight if people do not bring actual water guns. Diego says biggest water fight in the world bcos it is indeed and songkran of thailand is well known around the world.

im 100% sure Thai better but since we got more accident and drunk people argue we try to safe them and overseas by no sale alcohol no touch by baby powder so i think that make some zone place a bit drop funny PS Thai nightlife awesome!!

Yes I agree. Songkran is abit boring cos they just shot with water gun only and walk too much also. I had been to Myanmar water festival and their water party is really amazing. U should go and try also.
