Just got to hope the DCiS doesn’t return as a DIEP won’t be an option for me. ( NIDDM, high BP, protein S deficiency on warfarin).

Im 2 weeks post op getting around better i had a diep flap my surgical team are amazing . I have a new belly button nurse made a comment it looked like a heart ❤️ my diep scar is really low on my knicker line. It's been amazing work. i can't believe the results already, although im swollen i can forsee the results. Im getting the spark back that i lost while going through cancer. Can't wait for going shopping now im looking forward to dressing for my body.❤

I, thankfully, quit smoking the day I got the call that my biopsy was positive. I just had the diep flap done on August 20. I am still quite sore but getting better daily!

Glad to hear it!! Just had a double mastectomy on 9/11/24. Didn’t want to wait to meet with plastic surgeon for another 6 weeks. And then another 3 for surgery. I waited 2 weeks and now wait for this the heal very well before reconstruction. More cancer was found after. Did you do any radiation or chemo?

Having already had a bilateral mastectomy with skin sparing immediate reconstruction and implants 6 years ago, do I have any options for deip etc, when I need to replace or remove my implants in 4 years?

Yes, as long as you are considered suitable, then a DIEP reconstruction is always as option.

Hi, why can’t you use your other breast ( if you have larger breasts ) to reconstruct a new breast? Is this possible??

No way in hell I would go home after even two days. It’s bloody painful and I stayed in the hospital for five. Also my blood pressure was low so it all depends.

In this kind of reconstruction women will feel the same feelings when they had the real breast?

No reconstruction will be able to compare to real breasts. However using your own body tissue will feel more natural.
