My first dozer (back in 1979) was a used Case 450B in good shape. Lots of good work out of that old girl. Traded up for 850B a few years later.

That was one of my favorite dozers. The easiest way to get rid of washboard when you're a new operator is angle the blade a little bit one way or the other so that the tracks don't hit the divit at the same time. That will keep you smooth until you figure out how to run it by the seat.

You should check the tappet clearance. When the starter motor is running, one cylinder has low compression, could be valves leaking, …..or could be a piston / rings, ……..or possibly a head gasket leaking.

Awesome machines!! Super easy to rebuild, repair and maintain. Drain and refill your final drives with new fluid, inspect where the final drives mount to the chassis and keep the undercarriage clean as much as possible! Those small cummins diesels don't wind way out when your run em, operator technique goes a long way. Keep the vids coming!!

@timber750 Жыл бұрын
@@kirkpalmer1709 Agree. I recall the 450B used the Case B188D D, which was a good motor. When Case bought out Cummins, the motors got even better.

Jesse, personally I'd add some transmission fluid to your fuel)Diesel tank which will help clean the injectors and injection pump. If I remember correctly you can't add too much as a diesel will run on almost all oils, fuels except gasoline! I wouldn't use more than a 50)50 mix unless your tank is really low on fuel, diesel. There are many decent quality diesel additives that would also help clear out the injectors and pump.😢 One bottle of fuel conditioner with $50 bucks of fuel and you would see if it helps any before adding tranny fluid... Good luck. Wouldn't hurt to have Area Diesel check the flow rate of your pump if they offer that service! 😊

Where the intake manifold is you can take that big bolt out they make a small like torch that has a wire to a switch to positive with a line connected to fuel like that will work almost like a glow plug but a torch my old minneapolis moline has one I found out so no starting fluid. Also disconnect your injector lines take a torch heat the lines and will get a lot of crap out don't run the pump

Could you use a transmission seal conditioner to help soften that up and maybe reduce the leak down to an acceptable level? I don't know about dozers but for autos it can help part of the time for seals. Those levers between the legs i'm not sure about that, but it is easy to reach and you are able to work those swiftly. Nice machine and great buy even though it's taking some work.

leave that blade up in the air when loading and unloading on a trailer, it does not make any difference if its up, and you do not damage the deck of the trailer.

Ya'll have one dead hole. Until ya'll rev her up she is missing. It is very noticable on cranking. One cylinder draws no power and it lopes past that cylinder. If ya'll had it on a scope you could even tell which hole is dead. It is a compression problem and that cylinder just does not press the air tightly enough to fire. Some people just kinna hear a miss while to me it is obvious.
