5/2/24. Ok JL, Hello from New Orleans area (~70° 2day); so just finished watching you rebuild of that (big) DitchWitch (model 40?). What a struggle you took on! Everything was busted & worn out.. but your persistence won out! Congradulations! Agree engine sounds kinda rough, carb air leak, timing a bit off a few degrees, coil intermittant, distributor (points/condensor) old...yup, you do have a 'punch list' to checkout. Loved seeing your wife help out & little boy (cute & sweet & temperment re: noise/vibration) supervising your work flow! Ok, bring us back after 'punch list' & show us how this 'big dog' trenches, augers slugh away & also how well yur front blade pushes...& covers over trenched dirt for a beautiful finish....oh yes, do get some funnels to pour that oil & fuel...no more making a mess on that garage floor! Stay safe & carry on!🔧⚙️🔩⛓️🪝🍺😊..also enjoy watching your rescue of Buldozers...just like Diesel Creek...guess you guys drink the same🍷🍷😁

I didn't read the comments but the rack sounded like it was stuck in the stop position and this was a common issue. also it's about a 1956 model. the round plug one the side of the gearbox is the oil level for the gearbox the dipstick is for the rear end and had oil. all take sae 30 oil

Wow those rear tires are still perfectly good. A few cracks smackes, still good.

Not smart to start an engine that's been sitting for a long time without checking the oil or even replacing it 😕

Jesse, personally I'd add some transmission fluid to your fuel)Diesel tank which will help clean the injectors and injection pump. If I remember correctly you can't add too much as a diesel will run on almost all oils, fuels except gasoline! I wouldn't use more than a 50)50 mix unless your tank is really low on fuel, diesel. There are many decent quality diesel additives that would also help clear out the injectors and pump.😢 One bottle of fuel conditioner with $50 bucks of fuel and you would see if it helps any before adding tranny fluid... Good luck. Wouldn't hurt to have Area Diesel check the flow rate of your pump if they offer that service! 😊

Your Coil could possibly be the wrong size or just weak. My VH4D required a different Coil after I had installed the per Tronix electronic ign system on the motor. I bought the Flame Thrower 3 ohm Coil on it, also made by Per Tronix. Model # 40511. Bought mine at Amazon. In super ❄️🥶 MN winters it has always started right up and ran like a Demon 😈, a good Demon .. Wouldn't hurt to locate a new Rotor as yours could be going bad. Nice job too. Loved that your wife helped out with that heavy boom!💪💪💎. Soon your boy will need some type of rideable power wheel or maybe a farm tractor!😊

Instead of using tranny fluid I suggest using synthetic gear oil. I used the synthetic gear oil in my gear box on a CASE 1537 uni-loader/Skid Steer which in colder weather flows awesome. Never had any issues with hot weather or leakage. I did rebuild the gearbox and replace all seals. The cost for synthetic gear oil is crazy but that's life. I have also mixed both tranny fluid and normal gear oil with good results but in the winter it still seemed to be thicker and that's when I switched to synthetic oil. Hope this idea helps you out. I'd suggest flushing the gear box first!!! 😊. Thanks for the Video.

Really enjoyed the whole video. Watched it in three parts. I could use two hundred feet of trench for French drain. I really wish I could hire the trenching and not have to mess with renting the equipment. Heck, everyone I know wants to manage their yard run off with a buried drain pipe. Keep up the good work and take care of the family first. Kudos to your wife for lending a hand.

Not to be critical but torque wrenches only need to be clicked once, not 3 times. If you did that during the A&P FAA practical test they would fail you. I see multiple clicks on more than one channel.

Wow, this is a long video I'm about to start watching....2 1/2+ hr video! Why not split up to parts #2 & #3? This is a really loonngg video to watch on KZbin. I just don't know if the view numbers are gonna be too good on this one, but I'll definitely see it all the way through though! I personally think the 45min to 1 hr is perfect time for videos on here. Most attention spans aren't 3 hrs -js. Love the content though keep it up.

6:03 Can't you just drill & tap a cap for a little grease zerk? I know it's not the best option but it would work to get grease in there. Even if you took it off after greasing it & put a plug in to protect the zerk & threads while spinning. Just a thought (I'm sure I'll have more, I just began watching -lol)🤔👍🏻👌🏻😄

Those Diablo carbide blades are absolute fire. I've used them multiple times to cut through cast iron XH plumbing stacks, cuts like a hot knife through butter. There are Lennox versions also but I think the Diablo's are slightly better. Going slow with saw speed & oil (lubricant) will prevent burning them up, turning into junk.

59:53 I said it before on previous videos, I'll say it again now. Lisa you are a saint for letting all this happen in the garage & barely being able to fit Jeep in there. More than that for having an attached garage constantly filled with smelly paint fumes & diesel exhaust smoke. In my previous relationship I was lucky to be able to park my two oil dripping 7.3 diesel f250's in the driveway period. As long as I was parked first in & she was last out, it was ok though. Thanks for all you put up with, trust me this will be worth it, your son is going to be so happy to have a dad like Tyler! Please don't overprotect him, let him fall down, get scratched, & get greasy, dirty & muddy like a proper little boy should! Thanks Lisa! 👍🏻👌🏻😄
