Ah ha! I knew the diesel heater was coming up soon as I already viewed it. Went back and subscribed and clicked the buttons and commented on each video I already watched. Think I have watched 80 episodes so when i get done marking up to 80 I will remember to mark and comment as I go now. Yay Lefty you have warmth!

Definitely doing this. The condensation from my buddy heater has been seeping into my interior panels, and freezing. It is definitely not a friend to my ambulance. Plus, I can't trust leaving it running while I'm at work, with Moses in the rig. The diesel heater would alleviate both of these issues, and, only costs a few bucks more than a buddy heater.

So, you got me. I'm going to try one of these in my semi because of the price. I've had name brand heaters before but my new truck didn't have one. I've been using my Honda generator with a ceramic heater. I also use it to run an a\c so I don't have to idle. I just can't resist the $130 price🤣

i guess in alberta , i will be getting the combo unit, which could heater air as well as liquid and use the heating liquid to preheat the coolant of diesel engine for nasty winter times.

That sounds like it would be a good fit for your weather. My truck has a block heater that I can power from my inverter if needed. Have fun building your rig! Thank you for watching and for commenting :)

I've seen it suggested that it's a good idea to order two heaters (if you're using the cheap ones from China which many do) so that when one breaks you can use parts from the other one. I thought that was a pretty good idea.

Hi. I just binge watched the first 30 episodes of your upgrade. I've been watching a number of your later episodes. Your build videos were very good. Some longer than they needed to be - but I think you know that. I will continue watching to catch-up, Good for you to make a life changing decision, one that I'm sure will be right. We are just over the bridge in Fort Erie, Ontario. Keep safe.

I am really enjoying your explanatory videos. Great build! I am a big fan of the Chinese Diesel heaters. I might have read somewhere that the Chinese fuel tanks like yours are not UV resistant and will fail after too many hours of exposure to the sun. You might think about rigging up a cover for the tank or maybe paint it if paint would stick to the plastic. Otherwise, you might install a better tank. Not being critical, just sharing.
@TheCampulanceMan4 жыл бұрын
Hi RS. I have already seen discoloration of the fuel tank so I'm sure that it's getting beat up by the sun. Funny thing, just this morning I was talking with a friend about it and I said "what if I paint it". I think I'll go ahead and do that because it's easy enough to do. When I connect into the main fuel tank I won't have to deal with it any longer... it just has to last till then! Thanks for watching and the comment!

With the moisture in the air, from my propane heater inside, contrasted by the dry, cold air, of a northeastern winter, I think I should really just buy one of these . I see myself contracting pneumonia otherwise.

it seems like your ambulance is a little bit of small. but a really good idea and good job. I am thinking of getting a retired ambulance to convert it into to my camper and even use it in winter in alberta. nasty winter in feb or jan could dip down to -40 c, for a couple of days or week. I think it is a bit of better to keep the diesel tank in side of box.

Hi - thank you for watching and for commenting. I will be connecting the heaterbfuel line into the main truck diesel tank this summer and removing the seperate tank. That will clean it up some :)

Other than deciphering the English It looked like it was a simple install. If you know what you're doing with the electrical Thanks for sharing. Your experience and give us an update down the road on how it's doing. I'm now wondering if this system can be used with the existing duct system and a camper because I really don't like the heater that is in there. 😉🙏✌💞🐶💞👍👌😊
@TheCampulanceMan5 жыл бұрын
Hi Darryl - I believe you could use this style in your camper. You'd probably remove the existing unit and put this in the same location, then use whatever duct size adapter is correct to join it in to the ducting. If your camper is very large, you could also add 12v fans in the ducts to push or pull the warm air longer distances. In my truck, I've been running it on the lowest setting (in 39 degree nights) and the truck is warm enough that I wear shorts - and Lefty sleeps like a rock! Thanks for watching and for your comments :)

David, now that you are a few years after the installation, have you protected or isolated the fuel pump more than what we see here? On my install, I placed my pump in a small acrylic box with foam, then mounted the whole box. My hope is that the box will protect the pump from road debris and corrosion. The extra foam in the box helps with noise reduction. The ticking noise of pump is hardly noticeable now.
@TheCampulanceMan9 ай бұрын
I haven't made any changes to it since I plumbed it to my main fuel tank. The current pump has been 3 years in service, so it's doing well :) The pump noise is subtke and never made me feel as though I needed to isolate it thankfully.

Nice install but the fuel tank seems a little exposed out there on the back of the van ? woildnt it have been better to fix it inside the rear locker ?
@TheCampulanceMan2 жыл бұрын
That's been updates and it now feeds from the main fuel tank. I wouldn't suggest an exterior tank like I had. Condensation and debris incursion.

Great job! Did you consider tapping into your main fuel tank, I assume your truck is diesel. Are you smelling diesel as heater operates? Who makes heater? You happy with it? Thank you, Chuck
@TheCampulanceMan5 жыл бұрын
Hi Chuck - Yes my truck is a diesel and I am planning to tap into the main tank. I have a 60 gallon tank so I'll never have to worry about using too much! There is no smell in the truck when the heater is running. No diesel smell and no smell at all. It's just pulling air from in the truck and heating it and pushing it back out. The brand I bought is called Warmtoo and I bought it from Ebay for $120. I do have a link in the description for it. I've been running it about 2.5 weeks and I love it! It has performed great and keeps us very comfortable on its lowest setting in 40 degree nights.
@JJfromIA2 жыл бұрын
They really made that heater system too convoluted. There's no need for a muffler, or an air intake. The unit doesn't make noise, and it can suck the air from inside without an intake. Since the rig is diesel, auxiliary tank isn't needed. When that Chinese clone junk dies get an Espar or Webasto. All that said, you have a very cool rig.

When you're inside the ambo, can you hear the fuel pump ticking? Also does the ticking slow down?
@TheCampulanceMan5 жыл бұрын
The ticking can be heard if there is no other noise. For example, if I have the TV on I can't hear it. When it's on at night I sleep right through it because it's quiet enough that it doesn't bother me. Took me like 2 nights to get used to it. The ticking speed is dictated by the setting - I have it on its lowest setting overnight which is just about 1 tick per second. I'm glad the video will help you!!!

Nice install video - added to my Diesel Heater playlist. I was going to ask how it is going with it -- but I see the other video pop up about it failing so I will watch that next for updates. If you had to change anything about this install what would it be? I've always thought it would make sense to move the unit as far away from the bed as possible, to dampen the clicking sound this makes, it is loud on all the videos I've seen. This was satisfying to watch a big and important job get done man, =1.
@TheCampulanceMan4 жыл бұрын
Overall the install is good - the clicking is minimal and I got used to it pretty quickly.

@@sunshinedewes4277 Many are electronical fires due to poor or worn wiring. There's a lot of power in big battery banks, enough to start a short fire :/
