Why disassemble it at all? Why not just dump some acetone in there and give it a shake?

How often would you recommend cleaning it out ? And how do I know it needs doing ?

If it's running fine and is giving no problems then just leave it be. If it's smoking a lot for longer than normal during startup or smoking once it's then I'd suggest servicing it.

I run mine on Paraffin or Kerosene. 3 years on and not had to clean mine. Just wondering if you ran them on Paraffin for a short while would get rid of the soot. Cheers from old George

Paraffin or Kerosine is a cleaner burning fuel. A good 20 minute blast on full can burn some of the soot off but not all.

Mine is under the bed inside the sliding door drivers side. Easy to access and work on if needed.
