That cat had it well under control: 1. Evaluate oncoming speed and distance of train. 2. Determine optimum paw rotation to freak driver whilst still ensuring safe passage across tracks. 3. Once committed to the sprint do not swish tail or think about mouse or other felines, just get to other side. 4. After crossing complete forget about it and look to secure dinner. 5. Say nothing to owner once home. 6. At home purr loudly and dream that winding up train drivers is cat sport. Hey Dude, nothing happened :)

Outstanding thrash compilation Kyle, great work! Thought 55007 at 2.20 was a moped before she appeared!! Until the 334 drags up here I never knew how noisy the Deltics could be! Understand the Napier engines are actually two stroke - found that hard to believe, but true. The sound quality on the video was excellent, do you use an external mic and if so, what make is it? I use a Panasonic to match my cam. Thanks. Ken
@KyleLaw198 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Ken. It's surprising how loud the Deltics can be - 55007 (55022) certainly being no exception. All footage recorded here utilised the internal microphone with my camcorder, but an external microphone is something I'm looking to upgrade to in the near future.

the train hauled by a little 20 class at each end, what is thst doing? weed spraying perhaps or steam cleaning in and around the sleepers and rail connection? We had similar looking units to the 20s in South Australia. The 800 class built by English Electric in Brisbane in the mid fifties. One out of the ten has been preserved.
@Tom-Lahaye7 жыл бұрын
I think this one is a rail head treatment/sandite train, it cleans the rail head and sprays a traction improving compound on the rail head. Much needed in autumn, when leafs on the rail make it slippery and impair the traction of the fast accelerating but relative light electric/diesel multiple units. In the past with heavier and slower steam and diesel locomotives this was less of an issue, they would run the rail clean by themselves after a couple of trains had passed.

Great compilation, missing just the tat Whistler class 40. I think also class 20 was underestimated for their thrash even though pretty under powered compare to the rest. Brings back fantastic carefree years as a keen spotter in the 70s

Where would I go to see all of those old locomotives? I know the Deltics are on heritage railways but where can I see the other old ones working?
@KyleLaw198 жыл бұрын
Many of these older locomotives are on heritage railways. Seeing some of these locomotives on the main line can be somewhat more difficult. Class 20's can often be seen out of York, during October and November, as they operate on what are called "Rail Head Treatment Trains". Class 37's can often be seen operating out of Derby, on "test trains". These test trains have various destinations around the country. Many class 47's are based at Carnforth with West Coast Railways, whilst class 56's are often seen at Leicester and Washwood Heath.
