I used to live in a house from 1916 and I had a dumbwaiter (which is just a small elevator for packages and once I squeezed myself into it) in my room.

I remember seeing the original video from the owner. This is no short of awesome. It goes to show that you don’t have to be an elevator enthusiast to appreciate and salvage the historic value of an elevator.

That’s quite an interresting elevator. Simple but effective safety mechanisms. This looks like you could service the elevator yourself if you have the mechanical and electrical skills.

The one thing I'm surprised is missing is a car door safety switch that turns off the motor if someone tries to open the door while moving.

I have this same model in my home that was built in 1908. I wasn't sure about the date of the elevator but after watching this video everything is exactly the same. It's currently not working though. It has power to it from the breaker that an electrician confirmed. Also the light is working as well. However, it will not run up or down. I would like to get it running and was wondering if you could possibly assist me in trouble shooting the problem. I live in Liberal KS. Please reach out to me. Thank you

i have 100 year old frate eleator doesn't work iam demoing it out but i cant tell if the brakes are on or not ,iam in idaho looking to talk to someone about it ,,so i can have safe demo u can contact me here it is belt drive i think most of everthang is gone but landing is up on the 3 floor
