Thank you for getting these railroads…Ontario Midland, Falls Roads, LV & L. I don’t know if I will get up there to see and videotape them.

@@CarolYannes Thank you for watching! I enjoy spotting the local shortlines. I've got some other LA&L footage I need to get up soon.

Damn, two hours waiting for CSX, when i was there last Monday they spent 10-15 minutes at the interchange before coming up with 417 and 416. Great video ill have to chase again soon to get 416!

It's indeed my experience that the interchange swap takes 10-20 minutes. I quickly ran into town when they went to the interchange, and then sat around for what seemed like forever. Upon arrival, they waited for the CSX local (L030) to return from Jordan. From what I could see, the inbound reefer had been left on the westward stub track, meaning the OMID couldn't grab it and return to Sodus as it would've been on the wrong end. When CSX arrived, they pulled the car high so that the OMID crew could grab it. I believe there is a runaround track up the OMID within a mile of the interchange, so I'm not exactly sure why they didn't shove it up that far and then situate themselves on the right end, but then again, the OMID always seems to be doing strange and interesting things. Thanks for watching!

@@DieselElevators csx placed a set of bad order cars in front of the reefer car, therefore the crew was unable to move them

@@rg8571 I gotcha, that makes a lot of sense! I noticed the wells way down there, didn't know if they were in the way. Thank you!

I don't think that I've ever seen an "Exempt" sign on on an active crossing.
@DieselElevators5 ай бұрын
@@Alcofoamer By definition, an exempt crossing means that road traffic usually requiring safety stops (school buses, hazardous trucks, etc) do not need to make those stops. Instead, when the train approaches the crossing, they need to come to a complete stop before proceeding through. This means, while having exempt crossings on non-abandoned track is rare, it is possible. Thanks for watching!

I would think some of the thick black diesel smoke could be cleaned up in this day and age.
@DieselElevators3 ай бұрын
@@genemanno1533 More often than not, it can be cleaned up simply by adjusting different areas of the engine and injection system.
@jimkelton40522 ай бұрын
@DieselElevators The smoke actually comes from turbo lag. If the engineer opened the throttle one notch at a time, the smoke would not be as heavy. I know this from experience. I will not explain why this happens, but I can say that when the yardmaster was being a d_ck, everytime I would pass his tower, I would give him a little smoke.
@DieselElevators2 ай бұрын
@@jimkelton4052 I wonder if he ever got the hint as to why the smoke would be worse when he was being crude?
@jimkelton40522 ай бұрын
@@DieselElevatorsOh he knew. The yard superintendent also had a desk in the tower, and he (Joe) told me one morning that I'm pissing him off. Joe laughed and kept going to his car. It was a night job and the yardie was trying to be a hero and stop the overtime jobs in the morning by making us work through lunch putting their trains together. Oh well, eff him. It became a game, most nights we won. I'm retired now but still remember him. We got along with each other many years later.
