The quad turbo B57 makes up to 760nm 400hp stock. And it is the smoothest running diesel I have ever witnessed in person no doubt. I recon its a 1000nm 500+hp capable block right from the factory. Its mental what BMW has put out in the last few years its no coincidence Toyota uses their B58 in the new Supra. Probably the last big farewell to the ICE before they fully commit to whatever they think an EV should be.

@@OM617a The only complicated aspect is the valvetrain and which exact design flaws are you talking about? Cant find any expect the stupid timing chain that always fails in BMW fashion and the complicated nature of a 4 valve head with a chain drive.

You should have cut your intake hole behind the license plate and spaced it off the fender (wing) to create a path for air.

ram still has the cummins in the bigger horsepower 2500 and 3500 trucks. the ecodiesel 1500 is not a cummins.

Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)!!

I'm looking in to this because a twin cam mechanical pump turbo-diesel is as good as it gets for engines I can run on waste vegetable oil after some communist tries to completely ban "fossil fuel" vehicles. I absolutely love this conversion with the Y61 Patrol, however I live in Australia where conditions call for low revs high torque engines, i have a Y62 patrol with factory TD42t intercooled Diesel, one of the most common ZD30 conversions here is a 6BT cummins 6.7l diesel, while it produces more than 1200NM of torque its 100kg heavier than the factory TD42 diesel, a high torque low reving conversion would be ideal. My TD421 revs at 2000rpm at 100kph and pulls hard. For some reason Aussies lean toward Cummins Duromax and the like, all heavy. There is an abundance of great engines out of Germany better suited , i would love comments. John Melbourne AU

@@budycelyn yeah, it is in no shape or form stable at them speeds, nor is the engine desiged to run at that rpm over a long time. like my disco better for cruising. does 70-80 cofortable. did 100mph once on a down hill. that was scary, like doing 60+ in a series.

Just now seeing this. For those on your side if the pond, it is for diesel trucks only. Any make or model. It includes a 1/4 mile drag race, sled pull, and dyno test. Top performers are running 9.0's in the quarter and I believe the record holder for the dyno is currently well above the 3100+ horsepower mark. As for the sled pull, I'm personally not very versed in that to give a comparison. Most are running Cummins or duramax based engines.

I had always been curious if a 606 would fit in a Series length Front end . Yes , but Tight (that's what she said) . Or is it a 605 ? If you were OK with moving the Grille Panel forward a bit , it would get easier I imagine . The M-57's do make torque alright .

good job but in my opinion the best was to get of the land/rover transmission and to put a Toyota land cruiser one instead . the land/rover transmission are noisy due to there aluminum housing . I don't know witch diff you have because the series one and two have a problem with the axel shafts .

Diesels like plenty of air and just enough fuel. Getting the air fuel ratio spot on and eliminating the smoke is what gives peak performance. It also stops the engine running too hot. Diesel engines that run rich run hot. I have seen the aftermath of an over fuelled diesel. and it's not good. Some fine tuning is needed to eliminate the smoke and free up the power lost to smoke.

Nice car and numbers from the dyno. How about torque because engine RPM is not correct on UCCUK dyno. Correct maximum engine speed was about 5400 rpm on the 4wd dyno and still the maximum power 434 hp is at 6551 rpm on the dyno chart. What was the problem, could you explain that?
