I've been playing dota for 10 years (competitively for a while), obviously I know those skills don't go through bkb. The reason why I mentioned them is because bkb has a 10 second duration MAX. These skills counter bkb because they prevent ZSMJ from burst DPSing down heroes (which is the point of bkb).

I agree that being a pro dota player doesn't make his choices always correct. But it gives you reason to think that he probably has a great reason/consideration for going for certain ites. IMO heart was a great choice! lol. Since arcane orb does pure damage, any armor boosting item is essentially useless. If he was up against a agil carry, then it would make sense for him to get butterfly.

ZSMJ is a top level chinese player and item choices are made with good reason. The reason why i think he chose not to go bkb is because they have a team that counters bkb. Astral imprisonment, chen test of faith/hand of god, alacrity etc. (This would be my reasoning, though I'm sure ZSMJ has thought it through much more thoroughly than me.

You even mentioned that they are team-orientated skills. Which is precisely why they are pretty good for countering bkb. I made that comment because so many people think they are 'smarter' than ZSMJ. He plays DOTA for a LIVING. These competitive teams spend HOURS/DAYS discussing strategies, item, hero choices/counters. No choice is made arbitrarily.

You can check my other comments below as to why I think it was a bad idea to go bkb. Their team had a number of skills that are natural counters to bkb.

I've already said 4-5 reasons why BKB would be a bad choice that was naturally countered by the enemy team's skills...

i get that he's a pro dota player...but that doesn't make his choice the correct one. Going heart vs destroyer? It was a clear cut bad choice.

@patrickphor im sure a bit overconfidence played into the mix... i mean bf manta am rapes face pretty hard and mb he wanted to outfarm the enemy and go for hard dmg output... and not going bkb might be an oppurtunity to rape the enemy team when they focus am... but still against invo id always go bkb

OD and Chen GJ :) AM's farm was good, but sadly disabled quite a bit with OD's dmg PAIN.. Haha

all of the spells you named are more team oriented spells that dont go through bkb. It was a bad item choice. Great player tho. cant win em all
