The price is relative to its ingredients. The reason coke and Pepsi products are cheap is because it's basically corn syrup and carbonation
@Letmelearnya
@Letmelearnya 3 жыл бұрын
Yup! And Coke and Pepsi are using ingredients (corn for high fructose corn syrup) subsidized by our government, which makes their product even cheaper. As mentioned in the video, I understand the cheap vs. more costly ingredients affect price. I just wish that wasn't the case so the people who would benefit from Olipop the most could afford it. A girl can dream!

I personally suffered from a very inconsistent and painful bathroom routine for months, so I decided to give Olipop a try. Pleased to say that this is the best I've felt in so long. I didn't have any of the weird cramping you mentioned at all, but that is dependent on each person. I also purchased mine from Imperfect Foods, so it gets delivered weekly, but it's cheaper than the store or online price!

@@Letmelearnyathe root beer is def my fave, I drink like 3-4 cans of it per week. They seriously help me disgust any food I’m eating or have recently eaten. I’m also not a super carbonated drinks kinda person, so the light carbonation I enjoy. This coming from someone who really only drinks water or tea. I’ll have a soda occasionally, but waters my go to all day everyday.

Thank you for this review! I started buying these sodas replace my unhealthy 3pm habit of buying "fancy special" drinks to keep me going during work (frapps, boba, etc) and I find it to be a fun, healthier replacement. Still more exciting than water or seltzer but waaaay less sugar and calories. Coke is cheap because there's nothing in it but fructose corn syrup, if you look at the vintage cola flavor from ollipop it has like a gazillion different ingredients in it that are mostly all herbs and roots, which is remarkable, this is how soda should be made. Zevia is really tough, because its no sugar, but there's virtually no other main ingredients in Zevia except stevia, so its not good for digestion. I would say Olipop is much better on your stomach, great flavor feels like you're drinking an Iyogi tea / soda.
@Letmelearnya
@Letmelearnya 3 жыл бұрын
Most definitely. As mentioned in the video, coke is cheaper because they use subsidized ingredients such as corn (HFCS). The irony of it all is that when Pepsi was first invented, it contained roots and natural flavors meant to ease digestion. Hence the name "Pepsi," which originated from the Greek work "pepsis" that means digestion. Over the decades it turned into what it is today. :(

honestly after covid, my taste buds were warped completely . it made me had a huge disliking to sodas when i used to go crazy drinking for them all the time. how ever the only sodas i couldve tolerate now was root beers and cream sodas. so i gave olipop a try since it had firmiliar flavors and it did not dissapointment me. And then i tried their cherry flavor which normally cherry flavors were ruined for me, Olipop's cherry soda was actually palatable and got me enjoying cherry flavors again. now i don't go ham drinking sodas every day like i used to, but every time i see cans of ollipop. I make sure to grab one of each flavor to drink sparingly through the week as a treat to go alongside my dinner. its delightful, and i can't be anymore thankful to have sodas like these which are not only light on the flavors, but just sweet enough to give me a little pick me up.

Oh, snap! I'm allergic to ragweed, and I've been drinking these. I guess I'm lucky that I haven't noticed any reaction! I've been enjoying these as an alternative to energy drinks as I'm trying to cut back on the caffeine and I've been enjoying them. The fiber doesn't phase me, but I try to eat a fairly diverse diet so I think I get plenty of fiber as it is. I guess my body is used to it already. Ok, all that being said, I really liked this review. It didn't feel like an advertisement. This seemed really honest, and I love that you addressed that an alternative soda like this could be really good for a lot of people who don't have access to it. You earned my respect.

The cost isn’t bad if you think about it. You’re getting 9 grams of fiber which is 30% of your DV. Most people don’t get enough fiber. You’re getting a whole bunch of different plant fibers that carry the prebiotic benefits. Soda is usually just cheaply produced syrup and water. Maybe a tad cheaper but honestly not bad

@Letmelearnya
@Letmelearnya Жыл бұрын
I lol'd at "I did in fact go to the moon." You might benefit from going low and starting slow, as I like to say. Your body should get used to the fiber as you introduce it over time. So like drink 1/4 can and see how you feel. If you're fine, gradually increase every day. Or, you might just have issues with those specific types of fibers and should just stay away from that product altogether. Good luck my noxious friend!

After I drank this maybe a couple of minutes after I did felt the cramping but that went away quick. But I felt sooooo sleepy and tired that lasted for about an hour. My guess is because of the added sugar and my body not being used to it. I thought since it was only 3g it wasn’t going to be a big deal. But it didn’t work for me I didn’t like that feeling at all. The taste was great though I had strawberry vanilla.

So glad I found you! Is there such a thing as a healthy beverage? I’m addicted to Pepsi. I’ve stopped it in the past by 2 weeks of nothing but water. But it there a healthy water?
@Letmelearnya
@Letmelearnya 2 жыл бұрын
If we're defining healthy beverages in the literal sense, then the only healthy beverage is water. BUT, there are beverages that bring people enjoyment and happiness and that's OK (not everything has to be perfectly healthy) if you don't over do it. There are also beverages that may be "healthier" than others by delivering some nutrition and beneficial ingredients. I believe Olipop to be one of these alternatives. I highly suggest if you're trying to stop Pepsi to not go cold turkey. I usually recommend decreasing intake to start (if drinking 4/day, decrease to 3, then 2...). I know some people are anti-diet soda, but decades ago it helped with my transition of moving away from regular soda. Or, if you can afford it, try alternatives like Olipop or Poppi. After my shift to diet soda, I started adding some juice to club soda, then drinking flavored sparkling water, adding fruit to water, and eventually got to where I am now where I only drink water, tea, or coffee. Try imagining where you'd like to be ('cuz that end goal is different for everyone) and imagine the steps you can take to get there instead of one huge leap that you might not make. Hope that helps!

So correct me if I’m wrong, I’m not a dietitian however as an herbalist when the term extract is used it is referred to extracting properties from the plant, as a whole. For instance, if it said ‘cbd extract’ then yea, they are extracting cbd from the whole plant and disregarding the rest of the plant. However in stating “marshmallow root extract” brings to mind more of a tincture type situation where the whole plant and all of its properties are extracted into a medium like an infusion or alcohol (tincture). Is it different in the commercial food industry?
@Letmelearnya
@Letmelearnya 2 жыл бұрын
Oooh an herbalist! Welcome and thanks for commenting and sharing your expertise!❤ This isn't my strong point, but I do know a couple things that will hopefully help. Fiber extracts are made in various ways, such as dry processing, wet processing, chemical, gravimetric, enzymatic, physical, microbial, or a combination of all these methods. I honestly have no idea how they extract marshmallow root, but I would assume the food industry is not using tinctures in their food products. They would then have to regulated by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau 😄

I cannot reply to your reply…. How cool. Yes undermine doesn’t mean replace. They want to offer an alternative to sodas and they nailed it. I appreciate the review. It was clear and concise. I drink a Coke Mini a day (maybe two every once in a while) so I don't have a bad soda habit. Prior to this video, I thought this would be a healthy alternative but it honestly seems like the "Beyond Burger" version of soda. Made with healthy things but not necessarily healthy. Thanks for your opinion on this 😊.

The Beyond Burger isn’t healthy at all. Please look at the ingredients. This drink isn’t comparable to Beyond Burger because one use real ingredients that’s beneficial to health and one don’t.

@@IAmHisBeloved5 My original statement was "it honestly seems like the "Beyond Burger" version of soda. Made with healthy things but not necessarily healthy." My original statement isn't saying that Beyond Burgers are healthy. I'm saying both products advertise being healthy but realistically aren't healthy at all. The Ollie Pop Soda's ingredient list makes it sound like it's healthy (i.e.- kudzu root, marshmallow root, slippery elm bark, etc) but these are extracts and may or may not retain any of the health benefits that the actual root or bark directly features. It's like eating an apple vs drinking apple juice. Both contain sugar, but the physical apple also contains fiber and nutrients that the juice just doesn't retain.

The problem with marketing is that they have to pump you up to get you to buy it, especially a new product. They identify the target audience and sell to them. In this case they are trying to get soda drinkers. But they are the wrong audience. Anybody drinking soda on a regular basis is not going to get into this soda. Soda is bad for you. And if you are still drinking it, you have not reached the bottom where you accept that. Olipop is for people who appreciate an occasional treat. Most soda drinkers can drink can after can during a day. You can't do that w/Olipop. In fact, you should split a can with someone and drink it only after you are well-hydrated and not to quench your thirst. Drink water first and then settle in to have a refreshing flavored beverage.

Ok thanks so much for this review. They are so cute and the flavor is so delicious I sort of got obsessed with them. They taste so good and have so few calories, they were replacing an afternoon cookie so it seemed like a win. BUT I discovered they are making me feel sick. I would drink 2 or 3 on a Friday night and then would spend the rest of the weekend a total wreck and not sure why. I started researching FODMAP and discovered they are loading all the stuff a fodmap sensitive person should avoid. I cut these off right away. I wish I had your perspective earlier. Damn. Nice to have your expert confirmation. Apparently they say one should only have one per day on the website but who looks at that??

@@Letmelearnya I will be interested in seeing that. I think I have some sensitivity because I have found I need to exclude some things like beans that I now understand are high in FODMAP. Except it is healthy. Comparing it to a less unhealthy cake doesn't make sense. Of course getting fiber and prebiotocs from food will always be best and the healthiest. They have studies proving their products help gut health vs actual soda which harms the gut microbiome. I definitely hate the stevia though and the price, but the company has mentioned how they want to make it cheaper but struggle to due to the cost of making the product. I also would start slow and wouldn't drink it alone and without food.
@Letmelearnya
@Letmelearnya 3 жыл бұрын
Hello there! Olipop does not have any studies showing that their product benefits gut health, though they are currently conducting a trial. The studies you mention, and I mentioned in the video, are for specific ingredients Olipop uses and not their product as a whole. Just because there is research supporting an ingredient Olipop is using, doesn't mean their product is also supported by research. However, mountains of research supports that drinking calories and nutrients has a negative impact on your health. This is why Olipop cannot be called "healthY," as you are still drinking calories and nutrients. I did say it could carry the claim that it is "healthIER" than actual soda, as soda has more sugar and doesn't contain fiber. Just like how a cake with added fiber could be considered "healthIER" than a regular cake, but still isn't "healthY" due to the refined carbs, fat, etc., which we know have negative impacts on health. Hope that makes sense!

Will it spike my insulin? or make my liver fatty?
@Letmelearnya
@Letmelearnya 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I'm not sure of the effects of sweeteners such as stevia on insulin. But I'll definitely look into it! Olipop does contain fibers that have been shown to stabilize blood sugar to some degree, so that's a plus. Fatty liver disease has many causes for developing, so I don't think we could definitively say that a type of soda independently could cause fatty liver.
