Great information, but I think I'm working in an older version of Captivate because there is no "Action" item when I enter my properties for me to make any of those changes. How can I make these buttons active and tell them what to do in the 2017 Captivate?
@CaptivateTeacher Жыл бұрын
This video was recorded in September of 2016 so the current version of Captivate would have been version 9. 2017 was version 10 and 2019 release is version 11. I'm sorry to say that I've forgotten more about the previous version than I know about the current.

Hey Paul, Love your tutorials. I am wondering if it is possible to adjust the location of a click box for different screen sizes in a responsive project? I am trying adjust for the scaling of the background image (i.e. a navigation button in a website screenshot) and not have the click box move away from its intended target.

It is possible to set position properties for objects to align with background images. If you need help with this you can purchase an hour of consulting time for my assistance. You can buy that one-on-one hour here: bit.ly/Cp1on1

While creating a click box, display properties are there for failure scenario too. I know that clicking the click box equates to success scenario. Could you please clarify how a failure scenario is defined ? Thank you.
@CaptivateTeacher7 жыл бұрын
Ah. I never thought to include that. The trick with being someone who uses the software almost every day you take things for granted. Anyway, it's literally the opposite of the success. Clicking the box itself is the success. Clicking anywhere else is the failure. Incidentally, that reminds me that if you have two click boxes on a page, only the top layer click box will display the failure caption when you click elsewhere, however, the success caption for both will continue to work for either click box. Hope that helps.

Hi Paul, I'm working on Adobe Captivate 2019 and I'm trying to create a pop-up text box which is activated by a learner clicking on a button/box. I would like to create multiple text boxes on one screen which is a flat infographic design. What is the best way of doing this? Do you have a tutorial that demonstrates best practice?
@CaptivateTeacher5 жыл бұрын
Create the object and set it's default state to not visible in output (the eyeball in the Properties Inspector) and then add a button that uses the *Show* action to make it visible. I like to make the popup also a button by creating with a smart shape, where clicking on the popup makes it disappear by using the *Hide* action.

Hi Paul, I need to simulate using Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V within our software. Is there a way to get Captivate to advance the slide once the learner presses those keys?
@CaptivateTeacher11 ай бұрын
If you are using Captivate Classic then yes, add a clickbox and set the keyboard shortcut to Ctrl+C. Keep in mind that keyboard shortcuts my conflict with system shortcuts.

Thanks for your tutorial, this is great! In your experience, on the iPad, the hints/feedback on both the button and click-box displays on the desktop but not on the iPad when published to the Captivate Prime LMS in HTML5 published (.zip) format. The project file was developed in web-responsive mode. Both Captivate 9 and Captivate Prime are demo versions (does this impact the functionality)? It doesn't call up on the HTML Tracker in Captivate 9 as unsupported but my hints never displays on the iPad.

One of the major differences we need to prepare for in our transition from eLearning to mLearning is any item or object that has a roll over effect. The hint caption is an example of this. Think about it. Without a mouse connected to a mobile device there is no roll over with just your finger.

hi. Thanks for your tutorial. is there a way to have a background audio and some buttons with "play audio" function at the same time? i would like to have background audio stopped when the user clicks on a button and listens to its audio then have the background audio resumed when the audio related to the button finishes. how is that possible?
@CaptivateTeacher6 жыл бұрын
zohre kiani the only thing I'm not sure about is starting the background audio again once it's done playing the button audio.

Hi Paul, I'm new in Adobe Captivate, I have a question, can we record voice (as an action) from a student in a Captivate Project? as same as play an audio during the reproduction of a Project, can we record it? Thanks Paul.
@CaptivateTeacher6 жыл бұрын
There is no function within Captivate to record a users voice (i.e. a student completing a course), but since I'm a big believer in never say never I will say that perhaps it's possible. In the Object icon on the Toolbar, there is an option for adding a Web Object. Essentially this creates an , which in web terms is a window to something that can be embedded from the internet. In theory, if you found the right web-based application that allows you to record audio, you could create a web object that shows that to your learners. Of course where the resulting file goes, how you could access it are all questions I can't answer for you. You will have to investigate what is possible. I used this to embed the web version Microsoft Office in an eLearning course. I didn't have a specific use case in mind I just wanted to see if I could do it. Here is that video if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6CkeKSMbMipp7s

Hello, Is it possible to create Shift + click or Ctrl + click, clickbox? I can't find how to create that. If it's possible, could you please say how? Thanks.
@CaptivateTeacher5 жыл бұрын
There are some things that click boxes can't do but you can fake them. I would have a first click box and instruction the learner to click the first item in the list. Then I would have a second click box and instruct the learner to hold down their shift key and click the last item in the list. If the learner follows your direction then they are none the wiser that they didn't really need to hold down the shift key, but they have learned the correct procedure (which is what's really important). The only people who will see through your deception will be the bottom X% of learners who were not going to follow direction anyway.

@@CaptivateTeacher Thank you for the fast reply, yeah I thought about that. Also another solution I came up with is creating a button that reacts on Shift and hiding it somewhere further off the slide. So when they press Shift and release it, it actually proceeds to the next slide. Thinking about all this, is there a way to maybe create a Button that shows click box while the button is pressed? i.e. lets say the user must press and hold shift in order to get the clickbox to appear? I only seem to find a way to make the clickbox appear after I press and release shift. Wish there was a way to make clickbox appear while holding the button. Thanks a lot Paul. :)

Hi Paul. I am trying to make a click a show feature for my latest course. I have about 10 words and I want the user to click the word and then show the definition. I'm interested in that definition staying up for the rest of the slide and/or hiding once user chooses another term to read. I used the click box feature in captivate 8 but the success text seems to disappear after a few seconds. Also, it doesn't allow the term to be reselected again. Anyways, if you can think of a different video that might help me for this type of function it would be very much appreciated. Not sure click box is the way to go.
