Excellent! Thank you so much. You made my life a bit easier with showing the State Change feature and how to use that! Love it! Only question is, since you used a Conditional advanced action to turn the Continue and Try Again buttons ON and OFF (depending on the state) did you really need to make the CONTINUE button invisible at the beginning?

+Donna Williams Yeah I guess you're right. It is redundant, however it won't adversely affect the functionality of the this project. I'll let you in on a little secret. None of these videos are scripted and I usually make it up as I go along.

This is fantastic, the multi state character adds interest and stopping people from progressing is just what I need. In my mind it is also accessible I.e character can have alt tags and buttons can be tabbed. Can you please confirm it will meet accessibility requirements? Thanks!

Hi Paul! I absolutely love this video and the options it provides. I was wondering if there is a way (advanced action) to disable the Playback controls just for this interaction. Most of my project encourages and allows the user to jump around since it is a technical system they are learning and may want to revisit specific areas. Many thanks--Linda Kirk

Hey Paul, how can i add audio > speech management to the feedback - so that it plays my "try again" message or "correct" message as appropriate. I see in the advanced actions window where we can designate "play audio" in addition to the show/hide commands, but i'm trying to use the text-to-speech voice to script my audio. Thanks for your help!
@terris83778 жыл бұрын
figured it out:o) what i haven't been able to figure out is adding the same text-to speech audio files within an interaction widget. Found the means, but when i try to select an existing audio file from the library, an error message prevents that "type" of audio file. strange that a file generated by the same software can't be used...

Terri, I've created a video today that might be a simpler solution that will allow you to have narration (and closed captioning) on all your feedback captions by putting them on seperate pages. Take a look and let me know if this helps you kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIjHdn2Zq7Wtj7M

I tried this a little differently - instead of executing advanced action to create a new action to assign the variable that we created with the literal value, i tried to choose assign form the drop down menu under OnSuccess instead. I seemed to me that this should also work but it didn't. I had to click on the buttons several times to get it to go next slide and sometimes i only had to click on the button once to go to the next slide. it seemed random but it probably wasn't.
@CaptivateTeacher7 жыл бұрын
An advanced action is required each time you have two or more actions. Assigning the value would be one, going to the next slide would be two and anything else would be three and so on. Clicking the buttons will unpause the playback of the project and it would end up continuing to the next slide but the user would have to wait for that to happen. It might appear slow or random to the end user.

This is great! Can you create more image responses for Angela other than correct (thumbs up) and incorrect? IOW, can you program each incorrect response displaying Angela in a different pose/gesture?
@CaptivateTeacher8 жыл бұрын
+Just the Right Size sure. You could create a feedback item for each answer. Take a look at this video and see if you can apply this example with the idea of having a different feedback for each possible answer. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i3Oto6qrndWVmKs
@gardengrlz8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul, but that's not quite what I had in mind. I was thinking if there was a way to create more than one image/gesture for Angela when a response returns as incorrect. For example, if a person selected Montreal, Angela would display as "irritated", if a person selected Vancouver, Angela would display with her hands on her hips; and if a person selected Toronto, Angela would be scratching her head. The responses are still incorrect, but it's not the same image of Angela that displays all 3 times. In the link you provided, the video explained how to have a grouped response for an incorrect/correct answer (more than 1 answer). Would that mean I would have to create more that 2 slides in the "State View"? Thanks again, Kathy
@gardengrlz8 жыл бұрын
I think I may have figured it out. The plus (+) button in the Object States section (next to the Object State drop-down) allows you to create several states for an object. You just enter the name of the new state and click OK. So, you could create for example, Angela_irritated, Angela_hands, Angela_curious, etc. After you create the states, go back into the State View and edit those states with images/text. I guess I was confused in thinking you could only have 2 states for a multiple choice question.
@CaptivateTeacher8 жыл бұрын
+Just the Right Size I was thinking more in terms that the knowledge from this project might point you in the right direction. To be more precise you could create an advanced action that checks for what you selected. You could die the user selection in a variable of your choosing. If the variable is one thing change the state of the image and feedback to show an appropriate image and caption. If the answer is something else, then change the state to something different.

Thanks Paul, I figured it out!

Hi Paul, Again, great content. I am developing a course outside an LMS that includes several modules. There is no official quiz but the students require to pass a certain percentage to move to the next module. Do you recommend using the method described in this video to accomplish this or do you recommend a different approach. I was also thing of using several pretest questions but I don't think you can multiple independent pre-tests in one project.
@CaptivateTeacher4 жыл бұрын
If you want to enforce that users have access to a secondary module you can only provide the link to that module from within the first module...or get and LMS.

following my previous query, i have one more doubt.. in Adobe Captivate 9 multiple choice interaction tries option is there, but i want to know whether the same will work with Adobe Captivate 9 template coding for an interaction that i have created on my own?
@CaptivateTeacher8 жыл бұрын
I’m assuming you used the radio button learning interaction. You should record a video about how you did that. You could add a variable based counter in your advanced action to keep track of attempts. Once you reach two tries you could navigate past the interaction slide.

Your interaction is good. i've created my own interaction using Adobe Captivate 9 for choosing the correct answer using radio buttons created by myself. i have four choices. but in my case only two tries allowed. it should show the right answer at the second try itself. is this activity possible in Adobe Captivate 9? if so provide me related video links for reference or can you explain me the procedure?

Hello Paul, i have 4 images and when i click on one of them the image will darken and the content will change as i used the change of state function. But however when it click the second image the first one still remains darken and wont go back to its original state. Wondering if captivate allows it to reset back to its original state once it click on other images, so that there will only be one image that is darken at a time.

What you're asking for requires writing an advanced action and is a little more complex and would be difficult to explain in the comments of my videos. I offer clients consultation/instruction time from my website. captivateteacher.com/how-i-can-help/consultation Once you've made a purchase I will reach out to you to arrange a time that is suitable for our online session. I use a web conference tool that allows us to communicate and share screens. You will be able to follow along and see all the steps to achieve what you want Captivate to do. After the session, you will also get a link where you can download the video to review whenever you like.

Sure is. You can use the expression Assign cpCmndShowPlaybar with a literal value of 0, either in the On Enter action, or as part of an advanced action if you have other commands to run on slide enter.

Oh my...realizing I've asked a question whose answer is higher than my level of understanding...(hand over face). Gotta pause on trying it out as it appears i've missed something in my coding of the interaction itself. I have created separate states for my try again and continue buttons and despite setting advanced actions to show one and hide the other, they both appear overlapped in my outcome.
