You can definitely use distilled white vinegar for cleaning! It’s an amaaaazing cleaner, in fact... Cleaning Vinegar is just slightly more acidic (therefore stronger), that’s all... Distilled white vinegar is a perfectly great cleaner tho. :) My favorite is 50/50 water and vinegar, with a few drops Blue Dawn Dish Soap... super powered all purpose cleaner! Also you can add essential oils, for nice scents. :)

distilled vinegar is fine, its usually around $2 a gallon. Most of the time you cut it with water anyway for cleaning so just cut it with a little less water.

If you want a stronger vinegar try canning vinegar at 9%. Just remember the smell is a bit more harsh. I window clean and also during my office cleanings like sinks and toilets I use 9%. I rarely use bowl cleaner. I do every other day cleanings and the spritz in the toilets is enough to tame the water rings. I also use an acid called phosphoric acid. A popular product is called Sanivac, purple in color. Awesome on calcium, mag, rust stains.

I recently got a gallon of 5% distilled vinegar and 2 gallons of 9% distilled vinegar. It's made by Hill Country. 9% is almost twice as strong as the regular 5% vinegar, but I can always dilute it to 5% if I need to. All I need is water to dilute the 9% vinegar.

Acetic acid is made by fermentation. Right. Acetobacter bacteria metabolize ethanol and excrete acetic acid. So how can it be a disinfectant if they survive?
@CleanWithConfidence

Vinegar has disinfecting properties but it's actually not officially a disinfectant. Vinegar kills 90% of germs and 80% of viruses, to be officially classified as a disinfectant though with the EPA it has to kill 99% of germs and bacteria.

QUESTION: I need to clean black mold from drywall. I read online that 5% White Vinegar can clean black mold directly from the bottle - even without being diluted. With the Great Value Cleaning Vinegar from Wal-Mart, it does not list the acid percentage. The directions of the Cleaning Vinegar say you should dilute the Cleaning Vinegar in the form of 1 Gallon of Water to 1 Cup of Cleaning Vinegar. This is a 16:1 ratio of Water to Cleaning Vinegar. Is this correct? Should this 16:1 ratio be used to clean the black mold on drywall? According to mathematics, Cleaning Vinegar is 6% Acid while White Vinegar is 5% Acid. This means the Cleaning Vinegar has 20% more Acid. However, if 5% Acid White Vinegar did not require any water, why would the 6% Acid Cleaning Vinegar require dilution of 16:1? According to mathematics, simply adding a 5:1 ratio of water to the Cleaning Vinegar would essentially reduce the Cleaning Vinegar to the same strength as White Vinegar, so why would there be a need to use 16:1 ratio in the directions?

Hey Nick, If 5% makes 100% of the concoction then it has 5 twenties. So one twenty of the five would be 20%. Moving from 5 to 6 adds one more of those twenties. 20% stronger.

@gemmadurrant7233
@gemmadurrant7233 3 жыл бұрын
@@bloodybones63 the way hes phrased it is confusing but mathematical possible. 5% was original amount of acid and to get to 10% you will have added, another whole 5%, its 100% more acetic acid than it was. 200% more acetic acid would get you 15% of the complete volume. To say its 20% stronger between 5 and 6 is a little confusing i think, it has 20% more if the active ingredient, but in the total mix overall is 1% stronger, barely different. The production method and added ingredients to cleaning vinegar are more of a difference than the percentage of acetic acid. Consumable traditional vinegars are not always 5% acid they can be higher.

If you are canning or jarring food, you should be using 5% vinegar. Do not use a 3% vinegar for canning or jarring (nor the 6%).

Can I use cleaning vinegar to wash my produce or should I get distilled?

@CleanWithConfidence 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend using cleaning vinegar with anything you are going to eat because it hasn't been purified to the same level as regular distilled white vinegar.

I would just check the product care tags of the items you are wanting to wash.

If 6% is for cøeaning and 20 times stronger... Why do my country's grocerystores sell allaround with 7% And then jumps up to, product name translated to english; Vinegar acid 32% Vinegar essence 35%. Are americans and europeans following different ways to calculate the acidity?

Not even close! It won't come anywhere close to killing all the germs and bacteria. You would need some hand sanitizer for that.
