I have 2 rose petals infusions going for soap, but I was surprised that it didn’t have a “rosey” smell. I ended up putting lavender essential oil in one and tea tree essential oils in the other. Mine were started the beginning of August. I don’t use essential oils alone because I’m sensitive to the very strong smell, they give me a headache. I use them in creams, soaps and ointment to tone down the smell. I have come so far in my soap making, harvesting and using herbs because of you, you have taught me so much! I am truly grateful! Many Blessings!!

I have this same problem with essential oils. I only keep peppermint or lavender eo in the house. I do use soaps and other things made by other people if I have a chance to be exposed to it and find that it isn’t strong enough to give me a headache.

Thank you Heidi!💜 I must admit that I don't use too many essential oils besides tea tree. I find most products, even handcrafted, smell wonderful, but just have too much fragrance. Besides the chemicals, it's one of the reasons I started making my own. Even with 70 on the horizon, I'm still waiting for my sense of smell to wane.☺️ Love and blessings!💜

Just a suggestion for you. Next time you go for tea tree oil switch to manuka oil. It is as powerful in its properties (does the same thing as tea tree) but is also as gentle as lavender and has a more delicate smell.

Eden's Garden is my favorite brand of essential oils. Plant Therapy is my second. FYI- in some states you need a license/permit to distill essential oils, even for just your own use. In my state you can legally own a still and use it to distill water only. To distill anything else, essential oils included, you have apply for a license and pay a licensing fee.

We got 21st Century Tea Tree Oil from a local pharmacy. I ordered some Viva Doria Peppermint EO from Amazon. I haven't used the Peppermint yet. I'm hoping to use it in tooth powder. I put the tea tree oil in my Dr. Bronner's soap dilution. It stinks so badly! My husband said it smells like diesel fuel. I absolutely hate the smell. And the effects it has on my skin condition is short-lived. I've been wanting some Lavender EO for a very long time. I love that smell. I'm reading good reviews on a company called Rocky Mountain Oils. They are pricey. But I feel it's worth it.

I have been using NOW foods oils since I first started using essential oils about 10 years ago or so. I have tried more expensive ones and found them to be no better. The reason they can keep their prices low is because they have been around the longest and have a very large facility. They also have the ability to purchase quality herbs in bulk at a lower price. They also batch test all their products and have been a part of the NOn GMO project for some time

This is great timing for me. I have been wanting to make salve for rubbing on sore joints, etc. I have acquired comfrey plants which are getting planted. I understand that I should buy dried comfrey to use in the mean time. How much should I order to make a small batch? Do I need to put oregano oil in it to preserve it? What about beeswax to make it thicker? We have four people with extremely worn and inflamed shoulders, and two with old Achilles heal injuries. Every video says that Comfrey can fix about anything, but I don't really know how to do it. Thanks

So I just bought a levo fusion machine. How does that machine affect the 1 or 2 month time line for storing and curing your infused oils? Does it cut down the storage time drastically as in "ready to use", or does it just speed it up so you still need to add the dried flowers and store for a month or so? Thanks, J-

When it comes to fragrance, essential oils are the way to go, infused oils have very little aroma to them. If using a good shelf stable oil like avocado, it should be indefinite and to keep the medicinal properties in tact, store in a cool, dark place

@RainCountryHomestead2 жыл бұрын
For oven drying? I personally would not use an oven to dry herbs because even on the lowest setting it can still be too hot for them. Best thing I can say is heat the oven to the lowest temperature first then turn it off, place the herbs inside with the door cracked. However, a better way if you live in a dry climate is to simply hang dry your herbs the old fashioned way or layout on towels, or sheets on a cooling rack. I gave a lot of ideas in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4Ssioh3faZ6hsU

It is not about how many years it can last, I know it can last for a very long time if properly stored, however, it can easily go rancid if heated too high, I say this not just from my own research but from experience
