Regarding the differences between "have", "have got" and "got", I think she meant how do they differ when they're seemingly being used in the same way, probably indicating possession.

My question is about 'poorly spoken': "I got a key = I obtained a key [from somewhere, in the past maybe] (also = poorly spoken - I('ve) got a key.)" I'd like to know if, for example, "you got that medicine that I need" can be, by any chance, translated like "you've got that medicine that I need". Who is "allowed" to speak poorly, the one that is not fluent in English or the one who speaks slang? Thank you.

I wish everyone speaking English would learn and use this stuff properly. I am far from perfect. Ut I can’t stand when people use words incorrectly or simply use the wrong words for something. Speaking like anything; if you’re going to do it, do it correctly.

Hi, Alisha. I think the last question from Rosario Rosato wasn't about "have"=possess and "have got"= i have to do something i don't want to but i should. Maybe it was like what is difference between,for example, "I have a dog" and "I've got a dog"? Could you explain this? Thanks
@stdprocedure
@stdprocedure 3 жыл бұрын
i'm not a native speaker, but for what i know, the last one in context can be "Oh, i'm sorry, i've got a dog, i can't hang out with you today", "i've got a dog" = "i have a dog, and you know, i need to take care of him"

The explanation about how to use "have, have got and got" is incomplete. You can say: You won't live much longer, you only HAVE a few minutes. You won't live much longer, you only "GOT" a few minutes. They both mean the same thing.
