Used to ( has several meanings ) 1: Something I used to do can mean I used to run in that direction! 2: I am getting used to running in a different location! 3: I used to wake up at 5:00 O’clock in the morning, I was used to waking up at 5:00 in the morning. 4: Please use Past, Present and Future in the proper context!

I appreciate that, because these grammatical forms are pretty much the same as in portuguese (my language). So it's very easy to learn. Not that english is easy. I think most of english is very difficult. Since the words we usually use in Portuguese, in English are often different, this makes the meaning an enigma for us, and it takes you some time to process and understand.

Example 1: He asked me "What were you doing at 9 a.m yesterday?". How should I report the sentence with the exact time given? A. He asked me what I was doing at 9 a.m the day before. (without backshift tense) B. He asked me what I had been doing at 9 a.m the day before. (with backshift tense) Example 2. He said "I met my wife in 1980." should be in reported speech: A. He told me that he met his wife in 1980. B. He told me that he hed met his wife in 1980. I really appreciate your help. Thanks again.
