Today I present a detailed review of a classic book written by Lesley Hazleton "After the Prophet". In the video, I discuss in detail about the main reasons of conflict between Shia and Sunni muslims. I also discuss the circumstances and the state of affairs right after the death of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The video will give you a deep insight into what went wrong after the Holy Prophet left the world. The review is based on all the incident which have been quoted in the book but I give my perspective at the end of the video.

Hazrat Ali (R.A) status is already high in our Prophet Muhammad's life. Islamic history says that Hazrat ABI Bakr and Umar(R.A) sent proposal for Fatima's (R.A) but Prophet Muhammad's SAW preferred Ali's (R.A) proposal. Keep in mind that our Prophet Muhammad's (SAW) never did anything without Allah Subhanahu WataAllah's consent. So Ali (R.A) was chosen for Fatima (Jannah's keys holder) by Allah Subhanahu WataAllah. It was obvious to be the first khalifa because Prophet Muhammad's SAW chose Hazrat ABI Bakr as His companion for Khare dhor/sor and Hazrat ABI Bakr (R.A) was the first companion who believed our Prophet (SAW) after Lalatul Mairaj when everyone doubted. That's how He got the name Siddique.

It’s the same argument between Sunni Shia which you mentioned in the review. That the Sunni accepting reality as it is and Shias looking the ideal what should have been. Despite your talk about logic and coming terms with the conclusion based on evidence, you have gone for the conclusion ‘what it should been’. It appears to me the The Prophet PBUH did not explicitly state his heir without ambiguity and did not mention a name. Your statement he wouldn’t have gone without naming his heir is fallacy and not based on fact but on wishful thinking. If the Prophet PBUH had named a name, then one assumes it would have been stated in an official announcement rather the in potentially ambiguous statement in front of few people. Accept the fact that no public announcement was made about the heir in Prophet’s PBUH lifetime and leave it at that.

​@cacacompany5869 of course the Rasool e Kareem saw the last prophet who had brought the last message of Allah to the whole humanity has announced his successor publicly at Ghadeer e Khoom. He (saw) left no stone unturned to appoint and announce his successor. But after centuries of false history which was written under the brutal and barbaric monarchs of Banu Ommia and Banu Abbas how could you believe in this fact. Even in Sahee Bukhaari it is narrated that the Holy Prophet saw during his last moments asked for pen and paper to document his successor to legalise and decreed it further but his faithful companions deprived him and at that crucial historic moment the whole omma lost the last and final opportunity to be united forever.

All muslims should follow sunnah but the question is who should we take the sunnah from. Shia historians say the holy prophet(PBUP) prayed with hands down and sunni historians say he prayed with his hands folded. When Muawia came with an army to fight Ali(AS). Ali(AS) called upon muslims by saying: we are Ahle beit you should fallow us, in response muawia came up with a slogan saying we are ahle sunnah, you should follow us. Allah has given free-will to every one, who we follow depends upon who we are from inside.

History of khilafat is not complex, it is made complex by shia yahudies. Hazrat ali RA had never never objected over any khalifa, and accepted khilafat of all the 3 khulfaa.

I apreciate you, since you have summarized the whole book in few minutes, a little addition from my side to your excellency is that the book was no doubt a masterpiece, and the author has vividly jotted down the actual crux of Islamic history. Yet painful, however interesting to discuss the horrendous sagas of Islamic history, how and why those catastrophic events happened despite the clear appointment of Hazrat Ali A.S as the successor. We must be unbiased when it comes to history and need to know those kinds of gruesome and heart-wrenching incidents.

I appreciate this rather sedate and impartial review Shahruk. It is quite comforting to see how openly such issues; that were once extremely sensitive, are being discussed in todays Pakistan. I believe the flashpoints of Muslim history and it’s consequences can be gauged from the actions of certain groups and personalities. One simply needs to see the current state of the muslim world and wonder how things went so wrong. Fantastic archeological research has been conducted by western academia, and one can see how the narrative fits according to written records and events from muslim historicity. As the adage goes that we learn history to make sense of the present, but the sad fact is that not many do. Early records of muslim history, or hadith, was written several centuries after the demise of Prophet Muhammad (saw), and a lot of it is contradictory and coloured to the ruling arab dynasties that emerged from those strifes. It is sensible to make note that any semblance of the religion of love and compassion that has been salvaged can be attributed to the sacrifices and works of the Prophetic lineage. We live in an exciting age where we’re now able to renew our understanding of religion quite openly.

Quran e Kareem has specifically ordered us to follow the last Prophet saw. He did appoint his successor according to Allah's order and will. The ummat can consult but the final power is with the Holy Prophet saw. He is the sole the infallible and the final authority appointed by Allah. Its not upto umma that they will consult among themselves that on which matters they will choose to follow him and on which matters they will choose to disobey him. This kind of democracy is kufr. Your point of view is not satisfactory and here is why: Prophet Muhammad PBUH is exception(not merely a religious,political,social Leader or reformer) he is not only a Holy Prophet but Leader of All the Holy Prophets,he is not Prophet for a particular region but for whole humanity (East and West), he is the final Holy Prophet. Jazakallah. It is extremely important to watch this clip up to the end. We are told that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his holy progeny) died without appointing anyone as his successor. If this is true then it means that there was no need for him to appoint anyone as his successor and he didn't. In that case why did the so called grand sahabas abandoned the blessed body of the Holy Prophet and gathered together in Saqifa to sort out the issue of khilafat? Were they trying to be smarter and cleverer than the Holy Prophet himself? Abu Bakr became the first caliph as a result of the so called "election" When Abu Bakr was on his death bed, he nominated Umar as his successor. And when Umar was on his death bed, he appointed a committee of six people amongst who Uthman was selected as the third caliph. Abu Bakr and Umar were very smart and clever that they made sure that they did not leave this world without making provision for their successors but the Holy Prophet himself died without thinking of appointing anyone as his successor. This is a very big insult to Islam and the Holy Prophet himself. Yes, the holy Prophet did appoint his cousin and his son~in~law as his successor after performing Hajj in a place called Ghadeer Khum. In the Lahore , most of students don't take interest in the conflict of this type of matter .They want to educate themselves through our researches, reading best books and the history of Islam. Lesley Hazleton beautifully explained the pre-cursor events of the post-departure of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) that lead to the tragedy of Karbala. What she failed to highlight in her book is that it all started with Abu Sufyan ibn Harb who a leader, and a merchant of Mecca, accepted Islam out of fear of death when Prophet Muhammad peacefully took over Mecca in the conquest of Mecca after the treaty of Hudaybiyya was breached by the Banu Bakr, allies of the Quraysh, attacked the Banu Khuza'a, who had recently become allies of the Muslims. Here my question to our Muslim brothers and sisters is that, after accepting Islam out of fear of death one would love the founder of Islam or hate him? Clearly, this hate was deliberately inculcated in the son and grandson of Abu Sufyan ibn Harb who schemed not only against the prophet but his progeny as well. This is a well documented Islamic history. Yazid the son of Muawiyah son Abu Sufyan ibn Harb specifically took revenge of these defeats of his father and grandfather and to complicate the matter, some companions of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) did not take the will of the prophet referred in the hadith as “The Calamity of Thursday”. Although, the succession of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) was already chosen by Allah, however, some companions deliberately not wanting to accept this fact and that’s why “The Calamity of Thursday” occurred just before Prophet’s (peace be upon him and his progeny) departure. One thing is very clear to me that, it’s not up to man to choose the successor of a Prophet, it's up to Allah who He chooses as a successor after the prophet. Like other prophet came before Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH), and came after him until the seal of the prophets, Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny). In addition to more than 300 verses, Allah directly revealed in the Quran in favor of Hazrat Ali (PBUH), the following hadith of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) clearly reflects that Hazrat Ali (PBUH) is the successor of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his progeny). “Will you not be pleased that you will be to me like Haroun (Aaron) to Musa (Moses)? But there will be no prophet after me.” Regardless of Shia and Sunni scholars’ commentaries, it is my belief that our Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his progeny) would not have uttered above words if he is not permitted by Allah (God) - read Surah Najm (53). Finally, what our Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) did is to bring the people closer to each other, and in doing so, he did not step back from sacrificing his own life, he also sacrificed his family (progeny) in Karbala to save Islam from the corruption of Yazid and his thugs. Otherwise, today Muslim ummah will be openly doing what Yazid of his time had done so. Few examples are doing Jumma on Wednesday instead of Friday. Eating and drinking prohibited articles such as pork, and alcohol. Yazid made Kaaba a horse stable and a womanizer, and many more examples like these. To bring ummah closer to each other, I would ask the following questions and you all already know the answers. But, you need to follow them through. 1. How can we resolve this conflict? > Do you want to choose a corrupt guardian or a “Just” guardian who listens from an ordinary person to a leader of a society? > If you choose a “Just” guardian, will you follow him to the letter or make shortcuts? > If you follow him to the letter, do you think society/ummah will be better or worse? > If you think that society/ummah will be better, then the guardian will not only a “Just” person but also a pragmatic one that will make no errors or mistakes to alleviate and elevate mankind to the next level. > Imam-e-Zamana (a.s) will be that personality that will alleviate and elevate mankind to the next level. And to bring him in the front as a leader of the ummah, we as a collective Muslim ummah must find “Just” guardians at every level to help Imam-e-Zaman in his ultimate fight against the evil in society. > Over the centuries invested world powers used this divide for their own benefits. Therefore, it is imperative to get the truth out in the open and educate general masses of the purported lies that were spread by the invested world powers and increase individual knowledge objectively rather than from the emotional point of view. So these are the main sources for Islamic history.. Just see that first history of Islam has been written by Imam Tabri in 350 Hijrah. There was no written or published work of any Islamic history before.. The question is how he wrote these stories. Just by asking peoples???? Us nay es say suna us nay us say suna.. blah blah
