Blender Tutorial for Beginners - In this tutorial, • Difference between Tim... , I show you the difference between timeline, dope sheet and graph editor in Blender. Watch the full video till the end to know more about it.
There are 3 types of motion editors in Blender, 'Timeline', 'Dope Sheet' and 'Graph Editor'. In the timeline, you can adjust the timing of your animation by moving keyframe. In dope sheet, you can adjust the timing of your animation by moving individual axis specific keyframe belonging to a particular transform action. In graph editor, you can not only adjust the timing of your animation by moving individual axis specific keyframe belonging to a particular transform action but you can also change the value inside the axis.
There are 3 transform actions, location, rotation and scale. Each of these transform action contains 3 axis, X,Y and Z. This means there are in total 9 axis. They are location x-axis, location y-axis, location z-axis, rotation x-axis, rotation y-axis, rotation z-axis, scale x-axis, scale y-axis and scale z-axis.
When you move keyframe in timeline, you are essentially moving all the 9 axis specific keyframe as well. However in the dope sheet, you get the option to move individual axis specific keyframe belonging to a particular transform action. In the graph editor, you get more options. In graph editor, not only can you move individual axis specific keyframe belonging to a particular transform action but you can also change the value inside the axis.
