The former is just kind of goofy, while the latter takes away from the power and menace he should have. With Legendary, it's all him. He's doing it by his own design, with his own power. I actually managed to get a rough estimate range of 2019 King Ghidorah's wingspan. Using an image of him standing on top of the volcano that Rodan emerged from, I was able to use his height as a reference by measuring it in centimeters. His height was measured at 2.3 cm which equals to 521 feet in real life, so I did 2.3/521=0.00441 to get a ratio. Then I measured the right wing which equaled 2.7 cm and by doing 2.7/0.00441 equaled 612.25 ft. Which when doubled gave me 1224.50 ft, but that didn't include his chest area. So I measured it to be about 0.6 cm and divided it by 0.00441 to get 136.05 ft and added the two together to get 1360.55 ft or 414.70 meters.

Now that you mention it, Ghidorah should honestly be the one kaiju who _isn't_ prone to being overwhelmed when ganged up on by multiple enemies at once- as he has three heads, each with their own mind, set of senses, gravity beam and 360 degrees of motion, he should be able to fend off and blast away multiple attackers coming from multiple directions at the same time, even ones coming from behind. Of course, that would have been too complicated to pull off back in the old suitmation days where Ghidora's heads usually used to flail around blindly, but it'd be a cool thing to see if he ever returned in the Monsterverse again.

Ghidorah was getting thwomped pretty much every other time: He would have died under the water since Godzilla had every possible advantage under the water (higher density, more streamlined shape, his bulky and muscular frame) and Ghidorah just straight ran away during the Antarctic fightsince G-man fell in some ice. It's like the guitar 'riff' from 'You Really Got Me'--Eddie Van Halen shreds on his version, and Dave Davies was 'cruder' but Davies still 'set the stage' for the advances future tech would eventually make. That being said, the Legendary folks must have been inspired by the 'man in suit' design by using actors and Mo-Cap to give us the best of both worlds.

a relative of mine had a bunch of really old godzilla films/shows and we would watched them when I was a kid, including the one with ghidorah in it although I don't think he had all of them. honestly I always thought the godzilla monsterverse(the ones that I was able to watch) was really goofy for the most part.. and this is coming from the same kid that took a bunch of sentai and also power rangers more seriously in comparison, kamen rider black being my favorite. godzilla against mechagodzilla 2003, king kong 2005, godzilla 2014 and godzilla kotm were the first couple of films I considered these monsters as, well.. monsters.

Well, Showa Godzilla is stronger than Monsterverse Godzilla plus they ganged up on Showa Ghidorah so Godzilla couldn't do a proper 1v1 with Ghidorah. It only took Mothra and Godzilla to stop Godzilla but needed another kaiju to stop him in the Showa series and more than 5 to fully kill him. He has also life wiped Venus or Mars in only 3 days, the only one of the Garogas Terror-Beasts that actually survive Zone Fighter's onslaught, and can fly at Mach 400 in Space.
