In France, the alarm sound we hear every first Wednesday of the month at 12, is not to remember the WWII. It is only to check that it is working properly for when it is needed (if danger "is coming").

In Toulouse we have an alarm that goes the morning around 10 am every first Wednesday of the month. They started doing it because in 2001 we had a factory that exploded and the alarm was not working to warn the people in the city. Now they do it to make sure it works if something ever happens.

Similarly to the Netherlands, every first Monday of the month at 12 to test whether the public warning system works. Indeed, started as a leftover from the WW2 air raid sirens.

I can confirm fruit was expensive in Korea when I studied abroad in 2019. My parents were really concern about my health since watermelon around that season was $20. To stay healthy, I bought bananas at a local market each week for about $1-$2 depending on how brown they were turning 😂😂

@SuperCubeLp

@@ARMYsince2015 I dont know where you're from but the cost of living in South Korea is similar to most/some European countries. Buying groceries is more expensive but on the other hand, eating out is cheaper, so it kinda balances out. In terms of studying, you can get a scholarship, which helps a lot but you still need approximately 5k€ for a smester (obviously depends on your standard of living).

I don't know if I'd survive in Korea with those fruit prices 😂. I love fruits, growing up my favourite days were the days my parents would go to the marketplace early in the morning and bring home fruit and veggies (though we had our own fruit like grapes, figs, plums, pomegranates, apricots, quince etc... Both my grandparents, from each side, had plenty of fruit trees too, from oranges to apples, pears and cherries). I know each place has local fruit that is much cheaper, but I'm used to so many of the ones that are hard to grow in non Mediterranean climates that I'd be bummed if I came across them and saw those kinds of prices, because I wouldn't be able to afford them or buy as much as I'd buy in my country.

Here in India the fruits are even cheaper than Europe. It all depends on supply, South Korea and Japan have low producing fields for fruits that's why they are so expensive. When i heard about the price of a single watermelon in Japan 5 years ago, it was really a culture shock. It was around 3000 Yen for a watermelon, for that price you can get atleast 20 kgs of Watermelon here in India. Banana is expensive too

I love seeing people from different countries sharing and communicating on those shows. I think more than one party enjoys and learns in those encounters. 🌷💝 In Bulgaria, I know that testing for perscription glasses is free, and it takes around a week for them to be done. The fruit thing for us depends on the season tbh. And for vegetables we fight to get ones localy produced as we try to avoid the ones produced In Turkey and Greece (low quality and full of hormones and chemicals). The Bulgarian tomato is the best thing in the world if you are now lucky enough to encounter one in big supermarkets. For tourist I would usually recommend to travel as it's still cheap to do so in Bulgaria ( all of the country is against the Euro in recent referendum but who knows in our society) and we have still clear air, food, water, nature and a long history (no matter what our politics try to do and sell)

Well, take all this lightly. Everyone is different Everyone in Italy us different. I don't drink until 4 or 5 am, I rarely drink at all. I don't know many Italians who drink that much, but with food and friends he must have been having so much fun so just kept drinking. Don't most people love food? Of course there are Italian people who aren't foodies. My Italian husband is not that into food and eating, but he's a great cook. Well, if you want a clean husband who cooks well, look in Italy as you might have a higher chance to find this, but be careful not to stereotype people. Everyone is different.

The only inaccurate thing here as an Italian is that in the south we do have people called “arrotino” going around town and shouting from their car. Their service is to sharpen kitchen knives although not very popular in cities or perhaps the North of Italy they still somehow survive in little villages and towns in the south and so it is a bit of a lie being so shocked about the Koreans selling goods from their car. Other than that I do relate!

Everything they can't grow has to be imported. Compared to America, Korea is just a little smaller than the state of Kentucky. They absolutely cannot grow or make everything they need, so it all has to come in Via ship or plane, because nothing can come in from North Korea. In the states, a ship comes into Seattle Washington and then gets trained or trucked all the way to the Atlantic. And that's just the stuff we can't grow ourselves.

See a European myself, I didn't even realise how exaggerated their behaviour was, because it's how we are, and often don't realise how overwhelming that can be.
