Different Blending Brushes and How to Clean Them

A timely video for me since I’ve been enjoying stencils more and also like to make blended backgrounds. I have the full set of Picket Fences brushes. They’re very nice but they are all different sizes making it hard to dedicate one for each color family. Still thinking but this was great Cassie. Thanks!

Great advice on cleaning brushes... I haven’t tried the colored handle brushes or Trinity I’ve just got the P&M large size and the SSS brush I got in a kit... but I enjoy both of those.

I always struggled with cleaning my brushes too. Mostly because I am an impatient person ;P, but the scrub pad really does help.

I just purchased a set of blender brushes from TE but have not received them yet. I think I remember seeing a video where it was stated you should not use the same blending brushes for Distress Inks and Distress Oxides. What do you think abou this? Also, how do you clean the micro rag?

I have heard that, Susan, and when I was using my cheaper makeup brushes it never bothered me to do so. I'm not sure how it affected them, if it did in fact hurt them. But if you read that about the TE brushes then you may want to consider not using them for both inks. I never had a problem, and I have been using my Pink & Main brushes on both. Now you make me want to check that out. As far as cleaning my rag, I just throw it in with my towels when I wash them :)

Hi Cassie,I like this video.So many new brushes.In Europe we have also other brands brushes.I could never find a lot of difference between the inktbrushs and the make up brushes.In Europe we have a brand Nellies choice that also carriers a ergonomic blending brush.I havent tried it.I also saw a new brush from Altenew.What do you know about these? .For really tiny spaces I like the little woodensticks (I can not remember their names)Not easy so many options.I think I stick to my make up brushes I think I Will by one different brush to try and than see how IT works,before commiring to a whole set.I clean the brushes White a babywipe a microcloth.You Just have to take your time to clean them .Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

There are definitely lots out there, and if you’ve found things that work, I would stick with that. It can be an investment and you want to make sure you like what you’re using 😊

I had not seen the brutus monroe cleaning thingie, I like that a lot. I'm sure it helps really get deep into cleaning the brushes. I'm wondering how long it takes to dry both the regular sized brushes as well as the Pink and Main larger ergonomic brush when you have sprayed them several times with the cleaner and cleaned them so thoroughly. Thanks for this video.

When I decide to clean them like that, I am done for the day, so I’m not totally sure how long it takes.
