Thank you Craig, loved the video. I love the statement you've stated a few times in your videos that the swing is a continuous motion,love that statement, the whole Swing Matters! one fluid motion ,keeping that thought when I'm practicing and playing so important!! Thanks again loving these videos!!

Great job Craig! Such an underappreciated concept. I'd be interested in guys from the past/present you've seen who have very wide shoulders and are thick and athletic through the chest area but not endomorphic. I'd imagine it really changes the dynamics. Maybe a young Nicklaus or a later Faldo/Norman. I wonder if this is why Rory has struggled a bit like you showed in a previous video?

This is dead on. I've learned this from experimentation. People should try this, to get what Craig is talking about. Grip the club extremely strong, while keeping a bowed left wrist(DJ). Now, try to hit a cut. You'll find out real fast how much side bend, and rotation that it takes to keep the club face from rolling over. DJ's flexibility is astounding! I know I can't play this way... But, it's fun to try it for the "feels" that you experience.

That extreme side bend is actually the toughest on the left lower and left mid back (for righties). It’s experiencing full torque and full stretch and can really create imbalances in the spine. Lead hip flexor, abductor muscles, and hip joint are also experiencing a lot of force at full stretch from that impact and post impact head over the ball position. It’s no wonder DJ takes a lot of time off in the off season, his body needs it.

I’m 5’10 235 I played better golf when I was smaller. I did start playing when I was 285 into power lifting. Got out of that but I’ve always felt the swing doesn’t fit my body. I’ve plateaued at a 8.3 handicap and I know there’s more there to help get lower

Lets go back to 2004 when johnny miller comment/slur on an australian golfer craig parry now seem so unfair, at that time miller is 6 foot plus built like a stick and parry is five foot nothing but six foot wide. It is pretty hard to have left side bend when your body is in the way
@johnflorio357611 ай бұрын
I remember that! Johnny Miller said something akin to, “Craig Parry’s swing would make Ben Hogan puke,” or something close to that. It was an ugly statement. For the record, I saw Craig Parry play many times at Muirfield Village. His golf swing was definitely nonstandard, but it was very consistent.

At the beginning it seemed like you were going to talk about the LAWs of golf that Mike Adams, Jim Suttie, and T.J. Tomasi wrote a book about (Leverage, Arc, and Width), but then you diverged. To play a bit of devil's advocate: For reference the vast majority of really good ballstikers have been flat footed at impact it's not just the heavy set golfer as you seem to elude to. I can show you pictures of Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Nick Price, Ernie Els, Steve Elkington, Stuart Appleby, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia, Justin Rose, Charles Howell III, Jason Day, Rory Mcilroy, and tons of others that were all flat footed at impact when they played some of their best golf - and all of them could be deemed as fit golfers. Wrist position at the top of the swing is irrelevant as anyone can artificially contort their wrists into any position at the top, but when forces put pressure on the joints coming into impact they'll all straighten from momentum, gravity, centripetal force, and the other invisible forces at work. All the guys that have their hips extremely open at impact (ex: Dustin Johnson, Fred Couples, David Duval, Paul Azinger, etc) all have extremely strong left and right hand grips at setup, and the grips and the hips balance each other out. Guys with neutral grips at setup all have less open hips at impact. Going back to the LAWs guys it's what they called the hands/hip package.
