Just a heads up! Since you're using a 365 uv light, uranium glass will light up with it, however if you want to see the clear difference between a manganese and a uranium glow, use a 395 uv light. The uranium glass will glow like crazy. I do think a lot of what you are calling uranium glass is actually manganese.

Manganese has kind of the look of some shades of fluorite when hit with UV light. The blue/green fluorite under regular light has a kind of pale lead-like tone, but under UV, it does fluoresce…just not as boldly as uranium will. I love the cadmium, and some where they were tossing all kinds of mineral salts at the molten glass, and creating a wide range of colours on one piece. I need to learn more about these types of glass. Thanks for the intro. I missed what the lion had hold of…but it appeared that he lay down with the lamb …and ate him. Not quite how I recall hearing that story lol.🖤🇨🇦

Nice video. Thank you. I’ve collected uranium glass for a couple of years now and have a few different colours but not grey or clear, so still on the hunt for those. I don’t know if you know but the cut glass handled dish at the beginning of your video is British Davidson Pearline, sometimes called a nappy bowl. I have a query, if you or anyone in your comments know the answer to this..I’ve bought a purple piece of glass with a green uranium glass foot and concerned that the purple is due to it being irradiated in a microwave (I believe it turns the manganese in clear glass purple) what I wondered is if that was done would it have had an effect on the green uranium foot as well?
@besticanaffordantiques2565
@besticanaffordantiques2565 Жыл бұрын
The nappy at the beginning of this video is by Northwood Glass Company. Very rare pattern called Diadem. 🙂 I'd have to see the piece you're wondering about, but I think it's easily as likely that it was made in purple and green, and not later modified. If you add me as a friend on Facebook you can show it to me. I have the same name there. no spaces.

Two years later we still have boxes of glass from there. Not poking fun at all, but the fella had completely lost his mind. He kept every glass item in his home covered in baby powder so he would "know if the robots and little green men were touching his things while he was gone." A quote from the family. 😬
