If you look on their websites, it specifically tells you that children with the same parents will always have a variance in degrees of ancestry (even if you're either paternal or maternal twins/triplets/quadruplets/etc.) That's why your older sister can look more like your mom than you because her percentage is almost identical to your mom's since your dad is also Native American, why your brother has darker skin than the rest of your siblings because he has 7% more Nigerian ancestry, or your little sister has green eyes & nobody else in your family has it except for your dead great grandma from Sweden because she has 4% more Scandinavian DNA.

Rosa Milani I do understand that even with siblings DNA varies by alot. However, these are triplets, again I do not expect them to have the same statistics, but the differences are way to be different due to the fact they are triplets. I am just saying that home testing may not be very accurate

I hate to be "that guy", but if you do the 23andMe ancestry test they also break down your Neanderthal ancestry. Anyone who has at least some European ancestry has Neanderthal in them (basically caveman white folks slept with Neanderthals & had offspring before they became extinct,) but the most a human can have is 3% of that ancestry. It states that on their site.

Fuckoff ? Of course they can be. Identical triplets happens when one egg fertilized by one sperm splits into 3 separate eggs. Thus making identical triplets. On the other hand fraternal triplets would be made by 3 separate eggs fertilized by 3 different sperm cells, also making 3 babies aka triplets

Intriguing. I don't get why they did not get a geneticist on the panel to explain what may have happened. My guess is that some coding arrangement of the DNA still happens after the ovum has split in three or that those discrepancies can be explain by latent genes or even junk DNA. Those differences seem to be on genes that do not affect their appearance.

The biggest mistake ancestrydna made was failing to offer at least a crash course in genetics to the public before they get their results. The confusion stems from people not understanding how genetics works. Siblings, even twins....even identicle twins, triplets, etc. will have different results because they are still separate individuals.
@IchGukNurZu
@IchGukNurZu 2 жыл бұрын
That not correct heritage results are just randomly chosen for the customer and if the company had brains they would cross check their Database realising the same person or its twin/trippling sent in another test and give the same random result for each . Its a scam.
@sydneypolzin3420
@sydneypolzin3420 6 жыл бұрын
I think the point of this video was not to show that identical twins can have differences in their ancestry but the inaccuracy of the tests that millions of people are buying into. This is definitely something that a lot of people commenting, and the triplets themselves were confused about. This is because triplets that are identical have the exact same nucleic acid sequence making up their genome (100% the same DNA) and the only reason you see slight differences between identical twins traits is due to the their epigenetic code which how the different genes are packed as either euchromatin or heterochromatin around the histones.
@EmmaJaworski
@EmmaJaworski 5 жыл бұрын
Its 100% normal for siblings to have differences in DNA that vary by a few percentages. DNA doesnt split perfectly 50-50 where you get the exact same amount in the exact same features from each parent. One is 18% one is 16% and one is 19%. Thats totally normal for it to vary like that. Even for "identical" siblings, because no one is 100% identical with a 100% perfect DNA match.

These three are probably what's called "half identical". Two or three separate sperm fertilized the same egg forming a triploid which then splits. It's rare but it does happen. There are actually 7 different types of twins, not just identical and fraternal.

The tests are run multiple times each. They then take the averages of each test. If you look at ancestry.com's results they will show a range of the results from the multiple tests. Likely all three of them had the same range possibility, but the iteration of their tests came up with some differences in the final output. I've taken a couple of these tests and run the raw data on GedMatch. Different companies can come up with pretty different results in the percentages, but the overall composition is usually about the same.

It is important to understand how reference groups work. They are assigning probabilty based on where the DNA is assumed to come from. Someone who is 100% Irish may show Scandinavian and Iberian DNA. This due to migration in the past (Vikings and Celts, for example). This means that a part of the DNA they coded is found in that region. Depending on the reference database and the coding used. Individual sectors could fall under one or both. They are not telling you you are FROM Sweden. They are saying that that bit of your DNA is very frequently found in Sweden, even though it is also very frequently found in Ireland. And due to migration, in England, Australia, US, etc. If you use one of the larger coding companies, your percentages may even change as the database grows it reference data.

Transcription and translation take place following conception, this process would most likely explain the differences seen here. This takes place over the first 24 days.

They look slightly different, so no wonder their DNA also is slightly different. Yall should know, that identical twins are not 100% identical. DNA is just DNA, yall are still twins which is a huge miracle and blessing.

According to my knowledge you get 50% of your DNA from each parent, you don't always get every single thing the same from both parents. It could be a bit different for siblings. It's similar to the fact the middle one looked a lot different than the other two, she just got some different genes. That's just what I thought though.

@lynn6777 7 жыл бұрын
Actually identical sliblings would in fact have to have all the same genes b/c when they are in the womb what makes identicals is the splitting of an egg so technically they are all carbon copys of each other Also they probably got plastic surgery and that may be why they all look different from each other

According to newyorktimes.com, "The Claim: Identical Twins Have Identical DNA. It is a basic tenet of human biology, taught in grade schools everywhere: Identical twins come from the same fertilized egg and, thus, share identical genetic profiles. But according to new research, though identical twins share very similar genes, identical they are not."

If they're identical triplets they shouldn't have different results. It makes me question the validity of the test.

I dated a "Twin" for a while... and we COULD tell them apart... They DID look "Identical"... but one had a more prominent 'dimple' and is slightly taller -- maybe a 1/2" or so -- but enough to tell them apart.

They are HOT. But I think the far left (Nicolle I think)one has the prettiest face and hair type and hair colour in general, the far right one (Jaclyn I think) has a pretty hair colour. The one in the middle looks like them, like they are sisters obviously, but her nose is different and her hair is not as flawless in my opinion. If they are identical triplets they did have some different lives (and cosmetic procedures) cause they don't look all that identical
@anonymoussources8803
@anonymoussources8803 5 жыл бұрын
The percentages differed but the origins were all the same. My son has a biology degree and said the science behind these tests is sound but like most science there will be standard deviations. Even triplets do not share completely identical DNA across the entire sequence.
