In regard to Cudi’s influence on Ye, I’ll give Cudi a little credit. I’m only giving him a little [as a huge Cudi fan btw] because Cudi only had one mixtape out before 808’s and Heartbreaks got released (January of 2008).. Day & Nite [Crooker’s Remix] didn’t even drop until 6 months after 808’s. So it’s more likely that they both influenced each other a great deal… instead of one being the primary influence. That being said Kid Cudi DID write the hook for Heartless which is the most climactic moment on 808s… which is a big deal.
