Different teaching styles explained. Explore your teaching style and understand what kind of teacher you are. Teaching methods, teaching strategies and classroom management depend a lot on the core beliefs of an educator. In this video I explain the teaching styles, referring to one of the brilliant pedagogical concepts by Professor Gary Thomas. The concept affects things like curriculum, teacher positioning and strategies in the classroom.

Why 'unfortunately'? I think there is nothing wrong with being a formal teacher (by Gary Thomas). There are lots of 'formal' teachers who are truly GREAT. Formal does not equal bad. It's just that there is certain fashion on 'progressive' (again, by Gary Thomas) teachers nowadays - but I am not 100% sure that that's the only and the best solution.

51% formal and 49% progressive. I believe, there are different teaching techniques, some of them are fromal and others are progressive. I choose the method that best fits to the subject. Good video, thanks!

Whoa, it's tough. I'm less of a formal, more of a progressive teacher, I hope. I think any teacher who is in a constant search of new solutions is a progressive teacher ;)

But formal does not mean bad. Formal teachers are also cool. I beloeve many people have experienced great subject teachers and thus aquired great knowledge - though they were tough, 'rigid' and 'retro'. And at the same time, not every 'progressive teacher' (by Gary Thomas) is the best option - they might be too sloppy and not at all suitable for the overall culture of a certain school. No simple answers. Yeah, I agree, it's tough 😀

@@IlnurMiftakhov it was funny to me to mention my profession in terms of formal/progressive. Actually, I don't know exactly what is progressive engineer within tools and skills. Never thought about it. I just always try to do my job as sensible as I can. Different situations need different approaches and different results. And you color "formal" and "progressive" by intonation. So we start to think, that progressive is cool. And the way we call this style is cool, too. Progressive! We like it. We want to be progressive. Even engineers want. At least we want to look progressive:) I thought about it through all the day. What is progressive engineer? I think it is not about tools we use. It's about vision. Even skills are not as important as vision. I will try to figure out something solid about this and will share with you. Sorry for my english.

That's an interesting perspective... It would be interesting to analyze the basic assumptions of 'engineers' and to define what fundamental groups/divisions exist in that field. Do share your thoughts on that if you come up with something
