I put this on to check the sound of the Prophet 12. Got lost in the Bigsky, started browsing the web while listening, and 12 minutes later I realized how calm and relaxed I was. Incredible sound here man.

Truly great! I'm listening to you playing everything here; the reverb, the Prophet 12, the spaces in between, and the strategic strategic pauses. Really wonderful ambiance. Awesome effects as well. I think you have a very good feel for keeping things from becoming cluttered and distracting. Very nice, fluid touch. And then you bring it back where it all started! My wife and I both loved listening to Daniel and his Prophet 12. Definitely sharing this almost 'Vangelesque' performance. #homestudiorecording #synthesizer #roland #aira #analog #ableton #nativeinstruments #genelec #music #korg #cubase #logicpro #ambient #analog #musicgear #yamaha #rhodes #keyboards #studiomix #maschine #drummachine #analog #analogsynth #producer #alicizationrising #moog #humans #google #eurorack #modular #korg #moog #nord #roland #analog #yamaha #reface #yamahareface #davesmith #sequentialcircuits #prophet12 #prophet6 #sequential #dsiprophet12 #davesmithinstruments #arpsynthesizer #korgprophecy #synthesizerdemo #korgmicrostation #korg #korgsynthesizer #moog #moogsub37 #davesmith #sequentialcircuits #minimoog #minimoogvoyager #moogvoyager #voyager #novation #waldorfnave #ipadsynth #ipad #elektronoctatrack #elektron #elektronanalogfour #analogfour #analog4 #virusti2 #emx2 #redsound #redsounddarkstar #ambient #yamaha #yamahadx7 #dx7 #clavia #clavianordlead #nordlead #synthesizermusic #ambient #arpsynthesizers #arp #rhodeschroma #chroma #fenderrhodes #fender #arpsynthesizer #clavia #nordlead #clavianord #clavianolrdlead #homestudiorecording #synthesizer #roland #aira #analog #ableton #nativeinstruments #genelec #music #korg #cubase #logicpro #ambient #analog #musicgear #yamaha #rhodes #keyboards #studiomix #maschine #drummachine #analog #analogsynth #producer #alicizationrising #moog #humans #google #eurorack #modular #korg #moog #nord #roland #analog #yamaha #reface #yamahareface

I recently used this an entrance music to a piece of theatre that I performed in. It set the mood in such a tremendous way, the ethereal, transcendent nature of the notes intertwining with one another, the way they collide and sore in a chilling but somehow beautiful manner. These whole 17 minutes are beyond beauty, they have managed to tap into some otherworldly, eternal feeling that I can't fathom, it's truly one of the greatest sounds I have ever heard on this planet. It's life's enduring eternal echo in a vast landscape of perpetual incompressibility, and awe. Thank you for this x

Using the black keys ha! I have my own keys that I use to play drones. But since I learned by ear, I can't tell you what they are. My first polysynth was a Prophet 600. I came very close to getting the Prophet 12, but after playing a PPG a couple decades ago, I became a born again digital guy. I bought the Yamaha Montage instead of the Prophet 12 because of the FM-X engine and the sophisticated synthesis options. I really wanted to put some money in Dave Smith's pocket for giving me my first polyphonic synthesizer experience, but damn! I have to think about my self too! My next purchase will be the Big Sky, I think it will be great with my Gibson ES-175.

Absolutely Amazing Man. So, so, so very very nice. :-) Btw, what's your thoughts on the Strymon Big Sky vs Empress Reverb for such type of application? I've heard the Empress offers more flexibility but not sure if that even matters if you have such a deep shimmering reverb going into the mix.
@DanielDavissynthman4 жыл бұрын
I've never used the Empress, but can't imagine something offering more flexibility than the Big Sky. I mean, the Big Sky does absolutely everything I'd ever want a reverb pedal to do.

I´m just amazed by this piece. I don´t think you realise the emotional power of it. Kind of Vangelis meets Robert Rich (but different). It doesn´t lack anything, it´s all in it´s right place. I wish I could afford a DSI instrument some day, I´m sure with a Prophet 12 or a Prophet 6 I´ll be covered to make music for 10 years :D Seriously, I can´t stop listening at this and is becoming one of my favorite pieces of music ever. Are you planning on including it on a release or something?

Great stuff, makes me reconsider getting a P12 instead of a P6.
@DanielDavissynthman9 жыл бұрын
JediSid In terms of raw, synthesis power (but still super easy to use) and sound design, the P12 is in a class by itself. 4 OSC with standard wave shapes and wavetables, linear and exponential FM, AM, microtunings (soon to be added), 4 LFOs, 4 envelopes, 4 delay lines, and an easy to use modulation matrix with 16 definable slots, the P12 really is a sound designers dream. It's just not as in style right now because it's not 100% analog. Analog is totally in vogue right now, so people seem to flocking towards the P6. If traditional analog, subtractive synthesis is what you want, get the P6. If you want the future of sound design now, get the P12.
@jedisid9 жыл бұрын
I already have a lot of analog synths...
@DanielDavissynthman9 жыл бұрын
JediSid I'd go for the P12 then. Every day I get -this- much closer to selling everything else. It really is a lifetime synth.
@synth4ever9 жыл бұрын
Daniel Davis I currently own a 12-voice Poly Evolver. What are your thoughts on a comparison of features vs. PEK? Initially I felt that P12 and PEK shared many similar features (ie 3 delay lines on PEK instead of 4 on P12 etc) with not enough differences to pick up a P12, but interested in your thoughts on this. Yea, PEK doesn't have waveshaping of the 12 waveshapes, but it does have 96 (I think) Prophet VS wavetables.... I have to say initially I wasn't very impressed with the sounds/demos I heard from P12 as I found it to be very thin but with more recent demos/patches such as your works, I am getting more impressed as time goes on. Still, not sure if PEK + P12 is overkill/ too much overlap (especially as I am running 12-voices on the PEK, not the typical setup)... but I'd value your insights. Cheers.
@DanielDavissynthman9 жыл бұрын
synth4ever I think we've already had a similar conversation on Soundcloud. :) I think a 12 voice PEK covers many of the same bases as the P12. Sure, they're different in some ways, but I don't think I"d be interested in having both.
