Wow. Interesting. I like the clear plastic method best. We've been battling Bermuda grass for years. Old carpet left on the ground seems to slow it down quite a bit too. You just have to lift the carpet and dig out the ones that are there then put the carpet back down. We have to use layers of gardening cloth on the bottom of our beds. It helps but the B grass always finds a way around it. I'm glad you guys are working on solutions for Bermuda grass. Keep us informed on your progress!

On an acre site, I see that Bermudagrass exists in patches only where the ground has been disturbed. All else is native grasses - no mowing. So, there is a connection between having a cool, native undisturbed site and zero Bermudagrass. Bermudagrass follows our follies.

would like to have this repeated for japanese stilt grass. It is devouring woods and shade areas in Virginia. It smothers native species. Also really problematic where I live is english ivy which takes down trees. Thank you for this program.

If you have a small yard, and if you have the TIME, and the energy, water very profusely in the morning, and then in the afternoon, PULL IT BY HAND, obviously it is a lot of work, but it is the best. Keep your other grass mowed often ( every 3 or 4 days) BUT, at the highest setting, so you will cut barely a 16th, or an 8th, and eventually NO MORE BERMUDA.

Can you elaborate on this, mowing your grass on the highest (tallest?) setting kills bermuda? How is that?

Seems odd that you want to kill all microbial activity - I'm no scientist though. I'm hoping to just eliminate the bermuda around the edge of my garden. Our organic expert in south tx suggest black plastic laid down for six months or so.
