My family and I have been compiling common questions or tough questions or assumptions people make about God, Christianity, Christians, and the Bible, and we have been looking for verses that either answer the questions or prove a statement to be true or false with verses that back the answer up. I'm sure not coincidentally we have had people who don't know Christ ask us these very questions and we are then prepared to answer or even simply just provide verses for them to look for the answers themselves. I think it is a great way to get someone curious about reading the Bible for themselves. Great video btw! Loved all your ideas❤

I once heard about a homeschool bible curriculum recommended for your own adult study. It's been surprisingly good. Christian Light's 9th grade "Bible 9" is a study of Jesus in the Old Testament. Lately my favorite thing to do is read slowly and if I have a question go look it up right away. Sometimes it's like "oh duh I knew that" and other times I find something else to read or study.
@ChantelKlassen10 ай бұрын
Definitely going to be looking up that homeschool curriculum, thanks for that recommendation! I love the idea of going slow and looking things up!

I love copywork. I’m doing psalms right now. I’m very visual so it helps when I write things down. When I was going through a difficult season copy work was so helpful for me. I don’t care for devotionals either. I use Charles spurgeon morning and evening which is pretty rich. Faith has really helped me study just what I’m reading for my daily plan.

We have Spurgeon's devo too, I want to read that one at some point.

I've done a 90 day read through the bible and the Bible Recap a few times and loved each. This year I'm slowing it way down and doing The Daily Grace Co reading plan through the New Testament. It's one chapter a day 5 days a week. So, you have two days to catch up if you need it each week.
@ChantelKlassen10 ай бұрын
That sounds like a good reading plan!

Great thoughts on daily devotionals. So true. Sometimes they don’t have a lot of scriptures. I like devotionals but need to just add in with my Bible reading.

❤ You know i love love love The Bible Recap. I'm a fan of slow reading the Bible similarly to TBR. The Lord speaks to us when we sit and slowly read His Word. I like Proverbs 31 studies. They also have an app that goes along with the printed studies called First 5. It doesn't have as indepth questions as the printed studies tho.

I've never looked into Proverbs 31, going to check them out now, thanks Penny!

I’m using The Bible Recap currently! I love it, but it’s definitely difficult staying caught up. I have some scripture writing books from Cultivate What Matters that I haven’t used yet but I think seem really great. You can get them by theme or topic, or by book of the Bible, and it’s just passages to copy out from the Bible, and I think mine (which are topic ones) may have a takeaway section for you to write notes.

Love this video! Each time I have set out to read the Bible chronologically, I give up in Leviticus. The sores get me every time. Haha I really need to push through that. I completely agree with you on devotionals. Some Bible studies I have done in the last couple of years that I really loved and had depth (I think I may have mentioned some of these in the other video you mentioned) Abide by Jen Wilken, James by Jen Wilken, Behold Your God by John Snyder, Beholding and Becoming by Ruth Chou Simmons, Ruth by Nancy DeMoss Wollgemuth (her Adorned book is also amazing). I am currently doing the Answers In Genesis Bible curriculum homeschool edition with our 3 youngest. It takes you through the entire Bible over the course of 4 years. We are close to finishing up year one and we have all loved it. Oh, I also had told you I would let you know what I thought of the Generations curriculum once I had a chance to really look at it. It's amazing! We have done the first 2 chapters of their History Level 1 The Story of Jesus' People (since it's level 1, we are able to do a chapter a day for the ages of my kids) and all I want to do is keep reading this book. Two chapters isn't very far, but if it stays like this, it will definitely be my favorite curriculum. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous in all their books. Ok, done with my side note. 😊

Oh I love this! I personally have found the Daily Grace Co book studies to be really good (just enough context and historical stuff for me) but I haven't tried their topical studies yet. I loved doing the Bible Recap a couple of years ago! I did it with the podcast but I think I might try it with the book next time so that if I get "behind" I won't have the "You're 5 days behind" tracker yelling at me. Lol I've also joined a group called Find Wonderous Things for prayer journaling and Bible study printables and things, but she also has a course on studying the Bible inductively (I realize as I'm typing this that studying will be in your next video). But anyway, it's really helped how I'm studying the Bible this year.

Thanks for this! I enjoy hearing how others read and study the Bible. So good to spur one another on! Since you're studying Revelations, you may find a place study on Laodicea interesting. I remember doing one many years ago, but it was she a very new light on the third chapter for me. At that time, I particularly found the bit about "neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm" fascinating. As I say, though, it was many years ago.
