it honestly wasn't all that good. reminded me a lot of pokemon. while i do wish they bring back the anime, i'm glad they haven't cause ace was uh, not good (using the same cards over and over again got old fast) i think the only good season is 100, and bits and parts of season 1

The last "final boss deck" in Buddyfight was strange, the Time Dragons. I'm still amazed to this day that they literally created a card that says "stop the time of your opponent"

I played alot of buddyfight during the Hundred season and my god was it fun. The anime was tight and Fifth Omnis was just crazy fun. Then X came around and gave me my favorite deck of all time Thunder Empire had so many great memories with that deck and varients that I did to change it as new support came around. Lost world the mechanic you were describing was just toxic levels of disgusting. Dimensional Dragons were just super consistent in finding that damn card and making your life miserable once that Lost deck comes to play which completely ruined any amount of fun I got out of buddyfight which is a shame but I have no regrets playing the game.

Yeah Ace 2 was done in a manga, the story ended on a bitter-sweet note, if you have the chance please go and read it, it is a really good story.(But you can't really expect good fights since it's manga)

Not sure how I feel about the lack of counterplay against legion. You could atleast damage deny to prevent limit break/break ride explosive turns but legion doesn't seem to have that kind of counterplay and the only limitations are the turn count and drop zone requirements but the opponent can't really do anything there. Not too sure about how I feel about recycling heals and triggers making the game far more grindy (and sacky too in some ways). But who knows maybe I am completely misunderstanding this mechanism lol

There is no misunderstanding, there really was no counterplay for legion in the trading card game version besides staying on Grade 2 (but gamestudio made a change in legion’s mechanics so this specifically did not happen because that counterplay itself was counterintuitive to the new mechanic)

To be fair, legion won't last too long as a format. I think we will have 4/5 sets tops, considering in the tcg they were 2 sets and some extra boosters.

@@starbound100 After legion its G right? They'll probably simplify strides too so that they work on a similar turn based count rather than grade count and reduce any counterplay for simplicity...... But I guess it will still he better than legion's trigger/pg recycling I suppose lol

The find with buddy in the thunder empire /chaos foward was that were so many cool decks with fun mechanics but your opponent would just slap the hell out of them with the protagonist/antagonist decks because they're broken AF, so you couldn't play the deck you like properly :(

It really a shame how nerfed megaflare is, without cat-buter they aren't as explosive as other decks like Think-Saver dragon where they can re-stand multiple times. Like couldn't they just make it a starter and give it a CB cost to balance it. That way you would get one re-stand per game and with it being a starter that's only good when "Legion" your opponent can retire or lock it. Also, they took away his on hit re-stand a rearguard effect which would have been useful when your opponent had 2 intercepts but your megaflare attack still hit then you could stand a rear like Yamatano drake that had a booster to attack the vanguard again.

Well a lot of those cards stay relevant in legion era, especially with how Vanguard Zero forces you to play 13 grade 3s. New cards are gonna come out too that allow limit break effects to be used whenever so that unlocks new potential too
