i feel the same way about “ quiet time”, i can’t have nothing going on, i have been struggling with what i believe is delusions/paranoia and it gets worse if it’s too quiet, also the showing thing too. It’s pretty comforting to know that i’m not alone with that stuff

Thanks for sharing. My brother has schizophrenia & has spent the last few years in prison because of his hallucinations & drug use. Your channel gives me hope that one day he will be able to live stable. 🙏

It's very interesting to me what you said about needing auditory stimulation because for me it's the exact opposite. Sometimes when I listen to music my brain will hear messages coming from the music that aren't real. I often listen to the same songs over and over because I know what sounds and lyrics to expect. New music is difficult because my brain will change it into something else. The same thing happens with being in rooms with lots of different conversations, ocean sounds, babies crying, etc. This means that I often can't stay in crowded places for long

Yes!!! I constantly need sound. It's a noisy life. Upside: discovering different music from all over the world.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I don’t have schizophrenia but I struggle with severe anxiety from CPTSD which on several occasions lead to weird situations where I heard screams that weren’t there. It happens often in the shower or during any white noise and I’ve always felt extremely embarrassed about it. You talking about mental health so openly helps with that.

I've been doing DBT with my therapist for over a year and am on three different meds. She believes I have schizoaffective disorder, but my psychiatrist refuses to give me the diagnosis because of the stigma attached to it and the fact that on our last phone appointment, he said I sounded like I'm functioning better than people with schizoaffective disorder or schizophrenia...um, yeah. Because I've been in therapy for a year and am on three different meds!!! So unbelievably frustrating.

Your honesty is amazing and so helpful for those who don't have schizophrenia to understand what it is like. My grandmother had schizophrenia. She lived from 1900-1970's and was hospitalized from the late 1930's, so I really what to know what it would be like for her. Thank you.

What is the best way to support a stranger if they’re experiencing symptoms in public? When you are interacting with someone and questioning if they’re a hallucination, what would reassure you that they’re not? Thank you so much for sharing! ❤

I have schizoaffective-bipolar type and (luckily) I haven't hallucinated in years, but I STILL struggle with showering. Even with music on, though I haven't tried using my phone and watching a video or something. It's probably the most 'embarrassing' struggle I have.

Hi I came across your shorts and I was very interested in your experience. I too have been diagnosed with schizophrenia but to be honest I can't relate to your experiences I feel like I have some similar traits and just got lumped into a category cause there was none that fit me . I do hear voices but mine are informative and often funny, nothing like the ones I heard on your shorts. Most of my experiences revolve around me putting energy into something then manifesting it. First I started listening to music with my friends and I would hear a song and like the voice I'd go yup their gonna be huge last couple were avenged sevenfold, eternal rest on their first album was the song i heard . Or the first time I heard system of a down chop suey I was like their gonna be huge. It was well known in my circle of friends I had a track record of like going 8 for 8 in a four year span then I joined the military and overall it was pretty normal for me but I remember thinking later that it was weird again that I got into poker in half way into 2003 then in 2004 the nhl strike all the sports stations started the poker boom. Same thing I had heard about ufc in the nineties but then I started training mma and got really into it and then that blew up. So I was already seeing a pattern and smaller glitches would happen too. But the clincher for me when I realized their was something strange was. I decided to get out of the military to pursue poker full time in vegas. So I was like normal girls won't want to date me. So I imagined scenarios based on my weird experiences that I should date a stripper cause then she be less likely to care about my gambling full time and I had no problem with her work. Long story short it took about a year to get out from the time I sent in my vr by the six month mark of time left before i could get out I had a new roommate who moved in as an ex stripper but was back stripping again after a couple weeks. And could have moved to Vegas to work If it had worked out but honestly once I had that mainefestation in the real it wasn't what I wanted she had alot of baggage we just stayed friends after a few times together. So at this point I was confident I could bend reality by thinking it into existence, like pro athletes sometimes say they visualize it. Conner McGregor is a good example there's a video of him explaining how he was going to finish Aldo in secs months before he actually did. For some reason when I tried to use my thinking to manifest money it always back fired I tried many times over the years it seemed it only worked when I wasn't going to gain financial. After a few years of floating through construction labour jobs nothing strange happened and I was in a deep depression. Then I started searching youtube for answers to what I had experienced in manifesting and I finally found a guy with 50000 subs at the time Benthino Massaro explaing how to attract stuff by thinking that instantly clicked like yup someone knows what I've been doing and can explain it perfectly for a 5 year old to perform . He also talked about how to travel from parrellel realitys and even said be careful but I was hooked so I followed his easy instructions and it worked. After awhile it broke my mind. And I was dignaised manic then bi polar then something else then they just left me in schizo affective. For the longest time I had my poker dealing job and was spending the rest of the time researching I even lied to get into mental hospitals so I could talk to other people. It was just a game you had to answer the questions right to get out tell them what they wanted to hear I would make friends and they would ask me what I'm doing to get out so fast in a week c ause when we were just hanging out. I'd share all my experiences and they share there's I was looking at it like I'm gonna try and figure this out to inform or help people.

Hi! I am a nurse and I work with people with schizofrenia. This matter of the shower is very interesting because most of my patients refuse to do it and I never understood why. Is there any advice you can give me to help my patients shower with less anxiety? I will be grateful to hear from you.
