Is starch "ignored" by Iodine diffusing through the membrane? Is the only target of its diffusion the same ratio of Iodine and water in both the container and the dialysis tubing? For example, if at the beginning starch to water ratio was 1:9 and Iodine to water ratio was 1:5 - would the ratio after the experiment be 1: 1:4 for starch, Iodine and water and 1:4 for Iodine and water? Is starch insignificant? Is this why the weight doesn't change?

How do the water molecules get in, since the fatty acids of the phospholipids are hydrophobic?

Through protein channels, they have a specific shape and charge which facilitates the diffusion of water molecules

it's semi-permeable, not selectively permeable. The pore sizes don't change shape.
