"That thing" are MIRVs (Multi-targetable Independent Reentry Vehicle) Which basically are basically many nukes palced in a single cluster missile.

My favorite thing to do with this mod is place the nukes very high up, not focus on making them explosive but add a lot of the most radioactive items around them so when it goes off it just turns your world into a wasteland

Lol i do the same. I put 2 explosive rods and 1 nuclear rod and fill the rest of the custom nuke slots with dirty rods. Or just surround an explosive charge with a bunch of radioactive barrels. Works like magic.

With Mojang being owned by Microsoft, you'd think they'd make smarter decisions than the ones they've made in the last 2 or so years.. They are being actively updated on 1.7.10 and partly updated on 1.12.2 but mod creator and people who porting it to 1.12.2 said that they are not gonna do it for newer versions.

HBM's NTM has really evolved over the last year, the mushroom clouds are particles now, and a lot more cool features

NTM is one of the best mods ever. It adds a fully featured radiation and fallout system which is where some of those blocks like dead grass came from. There are also "kits" for each of the nukes which is helpful for creative mode, just right click while holding it to get all the items needed to set it up. 11:44 actually to create your first bits of some of the endgame materials, you actually do use the intense conditions caused by a nuke to "generate" them. This is also why the diamonds generate. The mod is super indepth and tries to model a lot of the real life phenomena that happen.

Tsar Bomba is the biggest nuclear bomb ever built and the Russians built it and it's a 50 megaton bomb but they had to scale it down from 100 megatons because when they did the test they were worried that the plane would not be able to get to minimum safe distance before it detonated
