I mean, given what happened in the Wild, I think the reason she still wanted to devour you was to reunite you, nothing to do with hunger. It's one of the Princesses two main instincts after all, alongside escaping.

28:10 - When she talks about "devouring you" I don't think she means in the literal sense. Shifting Mound says "to make you a part of myself", not "part of her". I interpret it as her not wanting to be apart from you. It sounds to me like she's begging Shifting Mound to let you occupy the same space as she does so you could keep her company, to share the same consciousness like in the Wild. The sad irony is her taking you would mean being incomplete forever. But the phrasing definitely fits both the path where you bonded and the path where you engaged with violence.

Fun fact. If you have stubborn while going to the den. If you try to flee he doesn’t let you. Because he’s too stubborn to flee. He physically stops you

Likewise, if you have the Voice of the Skeptic, you don’t have the capacity to fight the Den and (would) die as soon as you see her. The ability to successfully take fight or flight are limited to the Voices of the Stubborn and Skeptic respectively.

Not only that: the narrative says that Stubborn slows you down enough for the princess to catch up to you as Hunted laments "Death, again." But of course death doesn't come, nor will it ever.

​@voidraldarkenYou also fail to fight her if you don't have the knife even if you do have Stubborn. I honestly thought that'd go straight into "Embrace instinct," but it eventually made sense why it didn't - how else are you going to make deep enough wounds to show she can heal from them?

Yo dude! Just finished the playlist (besides this video lol) after binging it for a week, you're one of the best playthroughs! You engage very seriously with the material, and do your damnedest to not miss any potential interesting stuff. Plus, your "huh" lives rent free on my mind, no idea why. I think its fair that she still wants to eat you, the whole thing is that she resisted her nature, but its still there.

I mean she didn't resist her nature - her nature is the reason she's helping you, it's what animals do, they help those who help them back. It's one of those "caught on camera" things you don't see in many documentaries Plus she wants to "devour" not "eat" you, and even though they're basically synonyms of each other, "devour" does carry a more symbolic meaning to her.

@reubensalter8125 for sure not ignoring the symbolic meaning of the word devour, its a big theme of the game. dont know enough about animals, so i didnt know about this nature of animals, for sure in some animals but in my mind nature is usually in the fight, flee or freeze and the rest are exceptions but thanks for the info!
