I mean, given what happened in the Wild, I think the reason she still wanted to devour you was to reunite you, nothing to do with hunger. It's one of the Princesses two main instincts after all, alongside escaping.

It was not choosing the "I won't tell you" option that made resisting her impossible. Against the Tower's dominant will, any hesitation will break you.

28:10 - When she talks about "devouring you" I don't think she means in the literal sense. Shifting Mound says "to make you a part of myself", not "part of her". I interpret it as her not wanting to be apart from you. It sounds to me like she's begging Shifting Mound to let you occupy the same space as she does so you could keep her company, to share the same consciousness like in the Wild. The sad irony is her taking you would mean being incomplete forever. But the phrasing definitely fits both the path where you bonded and the path where you engaged with violence.

I’m just hoping really hard that you’ll at least get Broken for Cage. You do it by giving knife to Stubborn rather than killing yourself. Since this one didn’t work out, I really want you to at least see *one* of Broken’s shining moments.

When my husband and I played survivor, we didn't have even one shelter failure, it's pretty rare on this campaign. xD

So fun fact: some routes can permanently destroy certain voices, if you reach the new dawn and the only time you saw smitten was in the Happily Ever After, he won't show up in the end, since he separates from us in that route, it's the same for the stubborn in this route, and the same for any voices you had in apotheosis if you stab her eye. Pretty cool

I really like doing this with the broken, since his reasons for enduring and his dialogue after is different Buuut, cold is my favorite so i really like this one as well (Also I couldn't resist saying the funny line once I first got this route by being a pacifist). Also fun fact, if you go upstairs but do not take the blade you go into Fury instead of Eye of the Needle, with the voice of the broken. There's a kind of tragedy to all variations of the Adversary, all of them only know violence, even if you try to save her, she doesn't let you, and even if you save Eye of the Needle she isn't happy with it. The Fury is different, she's the most powerful variant and she throws everything she has at you but it doesn't work, in the end she is left with nothing. While I don't have an analysis of why she did what she did exactly, your explanation feels right.

I'm genuinely incapable of _watching_ this route. I can manage when I listen instead, but the unwinding section was what finally crossed the line for me- I honestly thought I was gonna be sick the first time I tried Don't get me wrong. I love this route. Voice of the Cold continues to be my favorite character and drives me insane (in a good way). The visuals are just,,, something else, man

This route can definitely be confusing. But at the same time it's one of my favourites now that it's been added, here's my analysis of it. The conflicting feeling and confusion you felt about freing her is on purpose i think. We could start with the fact that she transforms you into horrible things because in a way YOU transformed HER into a horrible thing. In the Adversary and the Tower for example, you basically give the princess a reason to be, an identity to hold onto, one that is also defined by you, the adversary needs an equal oponent and the tower needs someone weaker than her as a contrast to her power, but if you challenge your role the princess is left with no identity to hold onto, you gave her a reason to be and now you took it away. The game calls it desecration, act of taking this thing that she thought beautiful, that she existed for, and destroying it, the thing is that obviously in most cases it is not done necessarily our of malice, but the way the princess acts is also not malicious towards you, she thinks that what she does is what you both want to do and she thinks you will ultimately agree, no matter how unhappy she makes you in those chapter 2s, there is an inherent conflict of interest that cannot be resolved because you clearly want different things and there is no way to compromise. Two completely oposing worldviews trying to make the other understand. The Cold views it as a challenge almost. Even though Fury has done what are undeniably horrible and unforgivable acts towards you, choosing to leave her behind or freing her. In that moment, when you bewat her you basically become her jury, judge and executioner. You definitely don't need to feel sympathy for her after what she had done but just that you *can* is your victory. The fact that you can endure and still, at the end of it all, offer to help her move past the identity crisis at the root of her rage... You're the bigger person. As shifting mound once said "Even the cruelest of monsters are not unworthy of sympathy. Within me, nothing is beyond redemption." And then if we go by our usual view of each route as a metaphor for a relationship dynamic, In a relationship you'll have arguements with your partner that could potntially never end. They go on for hours, sometimes days, in agonizing vitriol but at the end of it, when the emotions calm down, both of you are left empty. The anger and stubbornness has literally morphed you into someone who would prefer to suffer over potentially lose an argument. Here you get to be the person in an abusive relationship who reaches out despite ber rage and bile. You're her rock, her lifeline, her guide. Then there's of course the coolest part of the route in terms of artistry for me. One of the best depictions of body horror I've seen in a while. The age old existential question of what exactly is makes you a person. Is it your body? Not really, in a literal ship of Theseus way our bodies replace our cells almost completely every 7-ish years. What exactly is you? That's where my boy and one of my favourite voices the Cold comes in. His innate detachment to literally everything makes him endure the suffering in almost bored way meanwhile other voices who are still bound in some way to their corporeality can't go on. welp, that was a rant, if you read all taht.. good job! have yourself a cookie.

If you try doing the unwinding sequence with the Contrarian or through Tower, it actually stops at 39:35 after stubborn gives up because no voices are left (Contrarian gets bored and leaves immediately and Broken is too upset about you killing the Tower to stay) and you get a different ending with a different vessel.

While I’m not as comment-y lately, it’s been extremely fun to be here! There’s a timeline where I never found this channel through Rain World, and never got to be part of this community. I wonder if that version of myself is sadder for it, even if only a little. I discovered you a bit late, but through your rainworld playthrough. And your playthrough of the game was perhaps my most favorite of any other- I loved how you handled the game, and I loved YOU as well! You feel so genuine and real. Which I know is something that will only grow to be more difficult to be as you grow- but all the same I just really like you and I'm so excited to see more from you, and to see you grow.

Wow its already been a year since I discovered this channel? Well i can't be sure I watched 'from' the very start of the first rainworld series; i think i ended up catching it a while after it had already progressed, at least 11 episodes I suspect. In some aspects, I feel bad; I flaked off and didn't watch much (really still haven't...) for various reasons, despite wanting to. In other ways, I'm still generally keeping an eye on every upload (one of the only channels I've ever rang the bell on as it were on youtube). In any case, happy new years, and heres looking forwards to 2025! I think I'll probably watch the upcoming rainworld series soon; I'm really starting to slip back into that desire for other things besides reading after spending the past four to five months revisiting and rebuilding my digital library for reading (and reading a WHOLE ton of dragon books...) This is going to be an odd one, and one I don't expect you to visit anytime soon, but Vintage Story may 'eventually' be of interest to you; I dunno if it'd be a youtube game, considering your channel's style (I could of course be wrong about the channel's subscribers interests) but its a more detailed survival game akin to minecraft WITH gradual overarching story being hammered out both in and outside the game. Its certainly not done yet and I know you'd probably rather wait til more was there before investigating it further, but I just thought I'd drop it onto your radar and let you gauge your interest in something like that. 'I' personally think seeing how you choose to build up/express creativity in your construction and progression would be interesting but I'm used to being an edgecase for interests lol.

RAIN WORLD WAS A YEAR AGO!?!?!!?? Jokes aside watching this channel grow has been an experience, i found it halfway through the rain world let's play and seeing a small community like this grow isn't something you get to see often. In my short time on the discord everyone was friendly and amazing to talk to, and that's sadly not that common. Your videos are always really pleasant to watch because you don't just play games for the sake of playing them like most people do. You see the artistic part of the games you play, the thought and effort that goes into them and you comment on it! It really feels like you enjoy what you're doing and it's really heartwarming.
