The guy that does the 1st verse has a son that raps and goes by the name Lil Tracy. His mother is Coko, lead singer of SWV.

They were in a class of their own. Fusing jazz & hip hop... Brilliant! Another reaction suggestion from Digable Planets is- 9th Wonder.

Digable Planets are from the conscious rap era and were ahead of their time. I like their song, " Where I'm from ". Your generation would called them "woke". I was blessed to see them on their reunion tour in July 2016 and they still can flow. 7/5/2016

I always loved how each lyric began with a different pronoun (He, Them, Us, You, He, She, Our, They, etc) and then different anchor words (Who, Where, Why, When, What, How, etc).

Jazz infused hip Hop was a big thing in those days. Digable planets and A tribe called quest led the way..

90s hip hop was heavily influenced by what they grew up listening to in the 60s and 70s. Man I love it allll 💙🔥

An extra chilly most track from Digable Planets ( Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mariana "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira & Craig "Doodlebug" Irving). Ishmael Butler was a high school basketball star in Seattle at Garfield HS from 1985-87 where his team won back to back State championships. He earned a basketball scholarship to the University of Massachusetts.

I don't usually do this but I thought it would be cool to know, if you didn't, since you like Coko, lead singer from SWV. She has a son with Butterfly from this group, which is the first guy rapping. He was also rapping at the end of the video you reacted to by Camp-lo as a feature. The female rapper Ladybug has a song with Snoop that samples a line she said in one of their songs and also features E-40 & others. The last guy Doodlebug, I haven't seen anywhere but in a cameo from the FLAVA IN YA EAR rmx video. I think you'd like THE BLAST by Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek even for just your personal listening😁🔥

I'll always remember this song! My daughter was about 9mths and every time this song came on she would stop WHATEVER she was doing and just stare at the radio until the song went off. It was weird. She was mesmerized by this beat!! Ahhhh...love the 90s!!😍😍😍
