I made the terrible mistake of sowing elecampane seed into my garden boxes. Sigh..., What a task to release them from their hold. They are lovely and I love their fruity fragrance.

Dina, you have such a beautiful wild garden. Did you deliberately plant or were most of the medicinal plants you use already on your property? I am in the process of planning a wild garden for my property and your garden is such an inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing your time & talents. :)

Thank you for appreciating! It's a co-creative journey where I bring in lots of plant and lots of plants arrive. Love that you are creating a wild garden! They are the best!

You should have left that one year longer to grow... My elecampane roots are much thicker... Mine are as big as your poke root and even much bigger. Greetings

Thank you dear! Can we use a mixture of vinegar and honey instead of the alcohol - I know this may extract less, but still? Love

Haven't done what you suggest, but perhaps give it a try and report back to us.

It appears deer leave this plant alone since it is growing in your open wild land. I have a few acres of unfenced land and would like to confirm that the deer will not graze on this plant (they are all over my property). Also, your forest is deciduous, mine is evergreen, Douglas Fir and Sitka Spruce . Do you know if Elecampane will thrive in my habitat? I know Elecampane grows in my local, the Pacific Northwest, but would love to plant in my forest if it will thrive. Thank you so much for these videos, they are the missing link in my studies thus far and I am thrilled to watch every one you post!

Good questions: I do see elecampane growing wild (so deer proof) but I am in a fenced area in this video. Still, I do not know how deer proof elecampane is given a lot of deer pressure. Regarding growing in an evergreen forest: I would make sure to give it rich moist soil and some sunlight (6 hours), and test a few plants, before committing to a larger planting. Keep us posted. Thanks!
