Hey! I knew it existed, but was surprised to find it in the wild. Maybe a fun fact they recorded the original theme song for the 1971 hit television show, Soul Train. Stay funky. Cheers. /Paul

Any album that is filled with "dirty funky sounds" is an album that is a must check out pronto. How can I not check it out after that? So the name of the band is The Rimshots? I ma grabbing a copy of Funk Factory. Funktastic update Paul. Man you really know how to amp up my listening pleasures on any night of the week~ Rob/Boston

Excellent finds Paul. That Jorge Ben sounded nice. You may know it already but there’s a really good compilation album compiled by Ed Motta “Too Slow To Disco..Brazil” released about 5 years ago. Only just heard it this week.
@XjunkieNL Жыл бұрын
Hi Ed. Always nice to see you stopping by. I remember that compilation, wasn't it released on Record Store Day. I have a love and hate relationship with compilations. It can ruin the original album, as you have the magic song one time too many. Stay funky. Cheers. /Paul

The Funk Factory album was unknown for me until the 90s or something, and I was suprised to see it it was a Michael Urbaniak record. If I got it right, it's unreleased/outakes from the Fusion III sessions. Much of the same musicians, like Steve Gadd as you menitoned. His wife Ursula Dudziak always participated on Urbaniak's records, at least in the 70's. Lot's of great jazz/funk stuff there, especially "Fusion III" from the same year, and "Atma" from 1974 is well worth checking out. Dudziak also have some albums herself that's intersting, especially her debut album, also from 1975. The Rimshots was unknown to me as well. Bookmarked, it sounds interesting. Same with Okko, never heard that before either. And that last Fondars 15. wow, those African albums really impress me Thanks again, great video

Hey hey. I didn't know Fusion III had the same line-up. I have owned that one, but sold it some time ago. It surprising on how many albums the combo Urbaniak/Gulgowski/Gadd/Jackson play. What I rememeber Fusion IIwas more jazz-rock. Maybe they left off the more funky songs and released it as Funk Factory. Curious what you think of the Okko album, could be right up your alley. Have a great weekend. Stay funky. Cheers. /Paul
@nonoiker Жыл бұрын
@@XjunkieNL That's right, Urbaniak's Fusion albums ( especially Fusion III on a few tracks) had some jazz-rock in them, but mostly funky elements. I understand some rather not prefer jazz-rock, and rock elements in music. Gulgowski released an album in scandinavia, called "Soundcheck" (1976). It's actually pretty good and funky, it's without any guitar/rock, the line-up was only Jackson, Gadd and Gulgowski. Will check out that Okko album soon as I can 👍

I have that Soundcheck album in the collection. A fantastic album. It has a great groove :) It is only now, that I discover it has almost the same lineup. /Paul

Funk factory is a nice one..love both urbaniak and Gulgowski..gulgowski is all over those pop workshop lp's as well as putting out a great trio lp with steve gadd and Anthony jackson called soundcheck which I highly recommend if you are not familiar!..I had the becker lp long ago but gave it to a friend..I do have an interesting german yoga lp called yoga fur millions in which becker provides the music quite beautiful actually and the german narration is surprisingly mellow..lol..much love chris
@XjunkieNL Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. Gulgowski is in a way very underrated. He has a amazing groovy touch. I just checked my Soundcheck copy, I didn't know, it has also has Steve Gadd and Anthony Jackson playing on it. That is a fun fact to learn. You make me curious for the Yoga Für Millionen album. That sounds a nice little obscure album. Have a great weekend. Stay funky. Cheers. /Paul

Funk sitar, well who would have thought that. I would like some Bollywood but that is a weird genre of some stuff I like and some stuff I can’t stand. I never see Bollywood in the states. I loved the sound of The Rimshots. Nice albums Funk Brother #1. This Sunday I am going to show my most African beaten cover but it’s an OG. The African album did sound great
@XjunkieNL Жыл бұрын
Hey Steve. Yeah, Bollywood albums can be really hit and miss. For some reason we have loads of Bollywood records overhere. Many are exported back to India, because of the great condition of the records. Hahah, looking forward to you beaten African cover, did I already see it on Instrgram? By the way a few years back I did a video called The Bad, Ugly and Trashed African albums. As always stay funky, Steve. Cheers. /Paul

okko is okko becker. long time collaborator, producer and sonic assistant for the grandmaster of experimental electronic x electro-acoustic music from hamburg, germany which is the man asmus tietchens himself.

Thanks for connecting the dots. Didn't know. It makes a lot of sense listening the album. For me it came out of nowhere, but was too much high quality to be a one-off. Stay funky. Cheers. /Paul

@@XjunkieNL the name okko rang a bell for me, probably because it's a name not really common in germany, so i looked that up. never met him in person but i knew that a guy named okko assists (or used to...) asmus tietchens. and i've been running into asmus occasionally over the course of the past 20 years or so every now and then - both in a musical context as well as in strange places like on the tube or during a bus ride.
